he smirked. “can do! see you later~” he said and scuttled off, leaving muddy tracks still.

nikolai had a very bad feeling about this in his gut, and he was left scowling after the other, watching as his shoes made even more tracks on the floor. but there wasn't much else he could do so he merely shook his head and headed back to the slytherin common room for the day.

weekends were undoubtedly the best, and all the older students who were allowed to go to hogsmeade were always headed there after friday classes. nikolai was no different, having walked there with some friends, and now he was wandering aimlessly in honeyduke's because, honestly, he had a sweet tooth. he'd simply agreed to meet up with his friends later at the there broomsticks, so he was free to take however long he wanted to pick out a sweet.

the marauders had all agreed on a meet up place, and of course, they were all just talking outside of a shop, being loud and sometimes roughhousing with each other, telling stupid or dirty jokes and just being teenage boys. of course, they were more careful with remus, especially sirius, who was, at any point, touching the other male un some way. almost like he was making sure he was ok. “you know what, i’m going to go see if anyone would be willing to give some free water out.” sirius announced and moved into honeydukes to go ask the owners.

nikolai was feeling pretty happy with all his candy selections so far, his arms full of what he was hoping would last him a reasonable amount of time, and a couple of treats for his friends. it was more than just a handful, though, and he was too busy trying to make sure nothing fell as he turned to make his way to the counter. distracted, he ended up bumping right into another student, causing him to curse as much of the candy fell to the ground. "sorr- oh," he said, realizing the other's face was a little familiar.

sirius has squawked awkwardly when someone ran into him, and quickly moved to help the other pick up and winced when he realised just who it was. “oh, damn it.” he breathed and looked the male over. he knew the other recognised him, so he just had to act cool. “hey.” he greeted and handed him a handful of the candy.

he focused on picking up the rest of the candy, not a fan of making a scene in the middle of the store, but they didn't bring too much attention to themselves at least. nikolai straightened, accepting the candy the other had picked up gratefully. "hey," he said. "uh, thanks." he really was appreciative of the help. the blond raised an eyebrow as he looked around the shop. "no partner in crime today?"

he smiled slightly. “they’re all outside. i came in to see if the owner would mind giving us a cup of water.” he explained and picked up the last piece. he looked at it and tilted his head. “you know what? why don’t you let me carry all of that for you? or at least half so you don’t drop it all again?”

nikolai raised a hand to rub at the back of his neck, wondering if this was all more trouble than it was worth. but it wasn't a bad idea, he supposed, so he nodded. "fine. i don't really mind which teacher it is, as long as it isn't the gryffindor head of house. someone like professor kettleburn should be fine." the blond got along well with most of the professors anyways, and the teacher for their magical creatures class was particularly fond of him.
