he took what he could and smiled, nodding as the male spoke. “well.. i gave you a fake name so.. i’m sirius, and my friend was james.” he explained and smirked. ”sorry about that.” he would let his gaze drag over the other male and then a hum erupted from him. “you know what, let me pay for this as payment for lying.” he offered.

the slytherin scowled at the other upon his confession about lying. this guy was definitely the troublesome type. "well, fits you better than julius i guess," he remarked, thinking his and the james guy's names sounded familiar. he'd probably heard his fellow prefects talk about them a handful of times. his eyes widened at the offer, though, and he shook his head. "i can't let you do that. i mean sure, you lied, but this is kind of a lot of candy," he replied in protest.

he would wave a dismissive hand, digging in his robes for his coin bag, taking out some coins. “not like i can’t afford it. besides, it’s the least i could for causing you trouble.” he said and flashed another smile.

nikolai's protest didn't seem to have done any good, and he merely stared open-mouthed as sirius took out coins to pay. "if this is a way for you to try and get on a prefect's good side...it's definitely working," he admitted with a grumble. his gaze then shifted to meet sirius' own. "but now i feel like i owe you," nikolai pointed out.

he chuckled brightly, shaking his head as he thought a moment. why was he paying for this guys stuff, and why did he feel bad about lying? “no. i’m just feeling nice today.” he decided aloud. he then asked the clerk about water and got the cup of water with a smile. “now, i have a dehydrated friends to get to.” he said. “but.. if you wanna hang out later, i’m down.”

nikolai hadn't been sure if the other had been talking to himself or not, but he merely shrugged and grabbed his bag of goods, waiting as sirius got the water he'd asked for. the last part of what he said, however, made his eyes widen, because they didn't really know each other at all. all nikolai really knew about sirius at this point was that he had a knack for mischief and a smile that made his own lips want to tug upwards. still, his mouth spoke without checking with his brain first. "okay, we should hang out then," he answered.

sirius gave a bright smile, and the very tips of his ears turned red- it was times like these that he was thankful he had fairly long hair. "cool. i guess ill meet you at the broomsticks around noon?" he suggested.

even though it should have been expected because they had both just agreed to hang out, nikolai hadn't been prepared for the way it almost sounded like they were planning a date. he had to remind himself that no, not everyone was like him in that regard, and sirius was probably just being nice. that didn't stop a blush from forming on his cheeks, though, as he nodded. "sure. i, um, guess i'll see you then sirius," he said before walking out of the store because the last thing he needed was for the other to notice him blushing like an idiot.

he would watch him leave, smiling slightly and looking into the cup of water and turning to the clerk. “i’m going to need two cups.” he explained, and once he got the second cup of water, he started to move out, chugging one of the cups and handing the other to remus.

nikolai blinked at the other, surprised at the offer but pleasantly so. he probably looked ridiculous carrying all that candy himself anyways. "if you don't mind..." he agreed with a nod, handing him half of the treats. nikolai gave the other a sideways glance as they headed to the counter. "i'm nikolai, by the way. i didn't introduce myself that last time."
