"run!! run hadley, run!!" he cried, the blood from his cut lip mixing with the desperate call. the floor was cold in its natural state but was now covered with bodies of fading warmth, his included.

hadley couldn't breathe. she could feel the chemicals in her body working in overdrive. the constant pain her in side was stretching out across her entire lower abdomen like tree roots. the mantra in her head only telling her she needed to keep running. keep running. keep running.

her feed pounded against the floor, as her eyes darted from wall to wall, trying to remember where to go when all the hallways looked the same. hadley couldn't stop. all she knew was that she needed to get out. he said he'd be safe, having two hearts to protect him. that wasn't convincing enough. hadley kept running.
