Hayley and Jackson might have been polite so far, but they weren't stupid enough to think that it was unlimited or likely to last for very long.
Their eyes narrowed a fraction when Hayley responded, one twitching slightly in annoyance. It was true that their people didn't always listen to their word, though after people began seeing the consequences for disobeying them, the number of rulebreaks had gone down. "Gabe, what do you think I'd do if one of our people came here to cause trouble after I told them not to?" They asked, their eyes not leaving Hayley for a second. Their punishments varied from case to case, but they liked to think they made it proportional to the crime.
Their gaze didn't move, expression didn't flicker, as Jackson went and locked the door. Showing any sign of weakness now would not play out well, not for them anyway. They imagined if Gabe seemed cowed by it, it would be a different story. "We've had a truce for some time, yes; I don't know about you, but that truce was arranged before my time in the Badlands. I know nothing of it or what the terms were. If you'd like to lay it out for me and we can renew it, we can discuss that. Assuming we wouldn't want to operate under an old agreement neither of us had any part in, I wanted to discuss new terms, seeing as we're both new leaders."
They shifted, eyes still locked on Hayley. "Now if you doubt that, if you think this is a distraction while the rest of my people invade yours, by all means, detain us while you search the mountainside. We'll cooperate, though I'd request you move us to somewhere with a fire." They weren't going to find anything, nothing that Cat was aware of, anyway. Their motives might not be what they claimed they were, but this wasn't the guise of some sort of raid or other attack. It was reconnaissance for something they had no desire for, but wanted to be ready for nonetheless.

They're not all dark, however, as they have pale blue eyes that peer out from beneath medium-sized eyebrows.

They tend to be rather aloof and apathetic to most things and people, with some very rare exceptions. Provided those around them don't cross a few specific lines, they're content to leave them be, though they've been known to take an interest in some people, which seldom has a positive end for whoever their interest is in. They can be manipulative, and will often encourage people to make bad decisions.
