WAY TOO FAR / OPEN, JOINERS

[size=6pt][font=Verdana]Honestly, Ev hadn't meant to go so far off course. She had been heading towards the sea, her son in tow, to try and find her wife but the woods ended up calling her name. The waves still beckoned her but they seemed insignificant compared to the tug of the dark, cool trees. She had been walking for what felt like days but in reality, she had no idea how long it had been. Cosmo normally kept track of that stuff. She just got food, made fires, told stories. She led the way and he managed everything else. He was her little soldier, her miracle, and every moment without him was laced with fear. Fear that he would be taken from her, ripped from her grasp by the greed of a stranger.

Such thoughts now prompted her to look back at her son, her dark hair spilling over her outfit like ink on a page. "C'mon baby, it's only a bit farther, alright? I can see the city from here, okay?" Ev told him, stopping to let him catch up and then attempting to hold his hand. She looked into his eyes for a moment, frowning. "Everything's gonna be okay, Cosmo. I'll make sure it is."

She wished that were true, she wished that she could make everything alright again, and she wanted so much to provide the best for her son. Ev just wanted to rest, to not be constantly searching for someone who was gone forever. It wasn't the greatest life for Cosmo, and that was what destroyed her.

Cosmo followed Ev; she was his rock, the only thing in the entire world that made sense anymore. Even when he felt he couldn't trust his own body, he knew he could trust her to steer them right.

Though they all had their weaknesses, and it hadn't been too long until he'd realized they'd gone far off course; but the cool air of the forest was nice, even if the hiking was exhausting. Food was easy to find here too, though feeding two people on just nuts, berries and whatever they could catch was difficult.

"I know, I can see it too." Cosmo huffed as Ev took his hand. He knew she was trying to be reassuring, and he usually humored her as much as he could, but his feet hurt and his stomach was growling uncomfortably. "Are you sure this place isn't gonna be dangerous?" He asked as he used his free hand to twirl a stick he'd picked up earlier.

[align=center][size=8pt]Advay gave a huff of annoyance, approaching the pair with his dogs in tow. "I-I can assu-assure you we're not da-dangerous," he said, cloaked all in his heavy clothes again today. It was getting a bit foggy in the mornings. Sadly, life was also becoming repetitive and drab. "Do you need som-something?" His hand reached down to give Africa, his Chow, a pat. To his other side, Atlantis, his tan husky, watch the pair curiously, while the Samoyed, a yellow-white and in need of a bath, named Aruba.

[align=center][div style="width:360px;text-align:justify;margin-top:10px;color:#000;"][size=6pt][font=Verdana]A deep breath was taken in and she was about to answer her son when the sound of someone else approaching set her on edge, her arms tensing up. They spoke and Ev surveyed their body language, eyes roaming over them and then their dogs. "Good evening, sir. We've come hoping to join your numbers. My name is Ev and this is my son, Cosmo." she stated, her voice light and floating through the air easily.

The dogs were something quite marvelous to look at. Her eyes lit up as soon as she looked back to them. They gave her a thrill of excitement, really. She loved dogs, loved any animals. She wondered for a moment, if the other would let her touch them later. It would honestly make her day.

Wolfbite took long, confident strides forward before pausing beside Advay, his hand lowering to give Atlantis a pet on the head. He quite liked the husky, they formed a bond over the course of their stay. "Welcome to Northstar District, you two. I'm Wolfbite, the leader. You have any questions or concerns, come to Advay or me." he murmured, jabbing his thumb into the pack owner's direction, eyeing Ev and Cosmo. Odd names for two seemingly mediocre people. They'd blend right in, he hoped.

Cosmo watched with barely contained suspicion as a person flanked by three dogs approached, seemingly from nowhere. Did the people around here just wander through the forests all day?

He glanced at Ev, who was handling all the talking. He was kind of glad today had been such a good day for her state, since he wasn't sure he'd be able to handle his hostility if he was the center of attention for these strangers.

He stayed quiet, before snapping the stick in half with the hand he'd been using to twirl it and dropped the broken twigs to the ground. He nodded to show he was following the conversation but stayed silent.
