"no reason. i just didn't think you were interested in all of that." he said.

In all honesty if Arthur found out Merlin was a wizard... Merlin would probably be fine. Much as they bickered and joked alone, Arthur was quite glad that Merlin was too oblivious to notice how much he loved him. Sure, he'd definitely be mad at first, but he'd cool off. He could never truly stay made at the other. Clearing his throat, Arthur said with a shrug, "I'm not really incredibly interested, but... I figured it would just be a good idea to learn about it. "

he nodded slowly, blinking. "if you need help in any of this, i studied magic a while back." shit. why did he say that? was he crazy? he held his breath, and clenched his fists behind his back, staring right up at arthur like he normally did when nervous. "like.. i read about it, not practiced it. thatd be.. incredibly illegal."

Blinking slowly, Arthur raised an eyebrow and said quietly, seeming skeptical, "Right, yes it would be. Are you alright Merlin? You seem like your heart is gonna explode any minute now." He tilted his head and stepped a bit closer to the other, frowning.

"er. yeah. just.. a lot of things to do." he said and shifted on his feet, clearing his throat. "i have to do the next thing on you.. extensive.. list.." he looked at the list and blinked. "arthur, you broke your sword again?"

He blinked and frowned, still seeming unconvinced, but then Merlin distracted him. He sighed and said, sitting down on his bed and huffing, "Yes. I swear, no one makes any swords that will actually last for me. I don't even train that hard and they break."

"that is a damned lie! you hit those practice dummy like it's a pile of rocks!" he said, rolling up the paper again and tapping it on arthur's chest. "if you break it again, i'm not getting it fixed."

A slow smile spread over Arthur's face, and he reached out to gently grab Merlin's wrist as the other tapped his chest. He pulled Merlin down onto the bed, putting a hand on his chest to pin him down and saying as he stuck his tongue out at him, looking down at him with an amused smirk, "That's also a lie. You've gotten it fixed for me many times and every time you threaten that."

[align=center][div style="width: 350px; text-align: justify; line-height: -1%; color: black"]merlin felt like death. he hadn't gotten a break in hours, and both of his best friends had given him a huge list of things to do. of course, arthur was his priority, but gwen was also a very high priority, and it was just a ton of rushing back and forth. at the morning, he was on number thirty seven on arthur's list, number five on gwen's. at least he was.. a forth of the way done.. and it was already noon! and by noon he was very ready to just lay in bed and just.. pass out. or die. dying was also a very valid option, right?
merlin stared down at the list, blinking. books. why would arthur need books? specifically ones about magic. had arthur found out? that thought woke him up almost instantly, and he stared down at it, jaw dropped slightly as he stared down at the words. any book about magic. bold letters.. in arthur's hand writing. he felt his heart pounding and bit his lip. maybe he could just say he couldn't find any? no, arthur would know. he definitely would. he sighed, deciding it might be best to find him some history books that mentioned magic.
so he did, and within an hour, he had carried a stack of books up to arthur's room, blinking when he saw arthur staring out the window. "oh- sorry, arthur, i thought you were out training." he said, setting the books down. "this is all i could find on magic.. but.. uh.. why do you need books on magic?"

Arthur hadn't actually wanted books about magic because he suspected Merlin might be a wizard... At least not at first, that is. No, he'd actually wanted them originally because one of the people in the castle had been acting strangely, and he suspected magic. Now he was genuinely curious how many odd things could be caused by magic.... Such as Merlin's seemingly miraculous luck to not die or something along those lines. He blinked as he heard Merlin's voice, and turned to face the other, frowning a little bit and saying quietly, "Books about...? Oh, right, the books about magic. Well, if you must know, Merlin, I was just curious. I mean, I've heard all these terrible things about magic since I was just a little one from my father, but I never actually really learned about it. I figured it would be useful to. Why?"
