Teddy sat on an armchair in the foyer, having snatched one of his nephews from Juliette and Micah to coo over whilst a pianist played gentle festive music in the corner of the foyer. Nearby, Maia lay beneath the tree, using her paw to swat at low hanging baubles before rolling comfortably on her back.
Whilst there were likely far more productive ways for Teddy to spend his afternoon, there was something truly so peaceful about getting to cherish this calm before tonight’s storm — a party that he’d so delightfully organised. Plus, every once in a while he’d have Badlanders approach to coo over little Matthew laying in his arms; Teddy wasn’t sure whether they were enticed by the baby or over Teddy with a baby, but he’d still gladly put on the act as the ever-so-fun uncle.
❝ Oh, he’s already growing to be quite the ladies man. ❞ Teddy hummed as a small group of women stood next to the chair to coo over baby Matthew, all forcing laughter around the leader. ❝ Just like his uncle, huh? ❞ One of the women teased light-heartedly, Teddy bunching his brows up with amusement. ❝ Not at all. ❞ He returned playfully.
Eventually, the women left, leaving Teddy in the foyer with Matthew who had since fallen asleep, and Maia exploring the foyer with her tail high in the air.

he never understand the attachment to children. to be fair, he wasn't a parent (to his knowledge, at least. for all he knew there could very well be some poor broad somewhere that he could have knocked up somewhere down the road), nor was he planning on being any form of parental figure to anyone any time soon. in all honesty, he couldn't really even understand any attachment to any other human being, but with kids it was a whole new ball park. what did people get out of children? they were horribly dependent and couldn't do anything themselves, not to mention so bothersome.
"never woulda pegged ya as a child type, knope." he remarked, his gaze still lingering on matthew before looking up towards teddy. with his expensive tastes and fashion, walker would have put his bets on him not wanting to risk getting it grimy from babies.

But no one knew that and it wasn't something she spoke about. She knew of Teddy's nephews, she had seen them at meetings but had never actually met the two boys.
So seeing Teddy with one of the boys, she knew it was one of the boys but she didn't know which one. And then, she saw Walker...this would be interesting. "Anything to get women to give him attention" she joked as she walked over to join the two men "Isn't that right, Orsacchiotto?" she hummed before looking to Walker.
"Glad to see you're being social" she added, may as well tease both of them if she was going to joke or tease one of them. Although she did agree, she didn't exactly peg Teddy as the child type. She knew he loved the twins, but that could always be because they're his nephews. Plus they were the only kids she had seen him around whereas, for example, Penny came from a group that had so many children.

The man frowned slightly as he slipped in behind Walker. He was a quiet lurker. He had thought of just observing, but Walker’s words were just too... much of an open opportunity. A smile curved over his lips and he looked quietly between Walker, Penny, and Teddy.
Mike tilted his head to the side. "He’s good with children, because he is a child." The man spoke evenly, with a quirk of an eyebrow. Poking at Teddy was not a good idea, and yet, he couldn’t help it. He couldn’t help the idea of prodding at Teddy until he finally broke.
He crossed his arms over his chest. And waited for Teddy’s reaction, whatever it might be. It would probably be entertaining.

Needless to say, being around kids made her feel awkward. She didn't know how to act, or how to censor herself, really. That's why when she strolled up, she stayed quiet, snickering at Mikes comment. "They look like nice kids, Ted," Salem said after a long bout of silence, her words accompanied by a smile. She allowed herself to speak only after practicing what to say in her head many times over.
