shadowclan cats are often misunderstood and feared by the other three clans, due to their mysterious and secretive nature. they are protective of their own and very prideful — often to the point of arrogance — of their skills. unfortunately, they are often perceived as power-hungry and greedy, but they are in fact far from it. they tend to keep to their own due to such stereotypes.
SHADOWCLAN'S HISTORY
many moons ago, they say a warrior by the name of tall shadow ( later shadowstar ) claimed the territory for herself and eventually founded the clan. as the generations passed down, many battles were won and lost, political feuds brewed, but shadowclan survived and kept their pride.
after the death of thistlestar, his deputy waterlily — a pale gray she-cat who often appeared to be white in the light — stepped up as leader. however, her reign was cut off when she was hit by a monster on the thunderpath, and taken away by the twolegs. it is unknown if she is dead or alive. due to being her deputy, nightbreeze — a dark gray tom with bright green eyes — had to step up as leader. not long after, nightstar's reign dwindled tragically and left the clan without a leader or deputy.
determined to do right by her clan, a warrior by the name of leechfrost — a large black she cat with amber eyes — stepped up to take charge. many moons passed after leechstar took charge. the clan, along with the other three, had gone dark. many clans have lost their leaders and most of their warriors, but starclan comes through to gift young birchwatcher — a light silver tabby with hints of brown in blue eyes — with nine lives to make him the new leader of shadowclan.

SHADOWCLAN'S TERRITORY
north of thunderclan, shadowclan resides in a marshy and wet landscape. few trees scatter across their territory, most notably the burnt sycamore- an ancient tree that was struck by lightning many moons ago. apprentices go there to learn night hunting and quiet stalking with their mentors. farther south of the burnt sycamore is a thunderpath that marks the border to thunderclan territory. beneath the thunderpath lies a tunnel that permits access to thunderclan, allow shadowclan to travel to fourtrees and back easily.
their camp is in a muddy hollow with little green, fortified by a thick wall of brambles. they reside just north of the burnt sycamore. only a single, tiny pathway allows entrance into their camp. the leader's den is beneath the roots of a huge, old oak. next to that is where the warriors sleep, underneath a bramble bush. from the outside, the warriors' den looks prickly and uncomfortable, but inside it's lined with pine needles and moss. at the edge of the clearing lies a smooth boulder, providing a place for the leader to make announcements and call for meetings. propped up next to this is another, longer rock, creating a sheltered 'cave' beneath- this being the medicine cat's den. ferns surround the base of this rock, creating a soft place for sick cats to rest. finally, a smaller hollow rests nearby, shielded by a thorn bush, creating a safe place for the queens and kits to sleep.
shadowclan cats primarily eat small amphibians and reptiles that can easily be found in their territory, such as lizards and frogs. west of the shadowclan camp is carrionplace- only described as a sick and rotten area where diseased rats and the occasional crowfood live in filth and rotten earth. despite the rumours of this place being riddled with sickness, in particularly harsh leaf-bares, shadowclan often feed off of the prey here. shadowclan are careful not to eat any crowfood, as to not get sick.
