— scout never shows their face, and their clothes reveals nothing about their gender. its best to just assume, because they wont give you any hints, not unless they know you really, really well. they usually wear a mask and very baggy or heavily binded clothing to the point that any physical features are crushed- not that it would matter with 20 layers of clothing. if wearing a mask where you can see their eyes, you can see that the skin around them is very pale, and the eyes are an intense, greyish-blue. this is their only feature that is ever shown. generally, their appearance is just very wild looking.

— scout may look a bit wild, and that's because they kind of are. growing up in the mojave during the black out, they had to adapt to the weather and the very specific camouflage that they may need. the most you'll hear out of them is a holler in the night, or a snicker when they find something. they understand basic hand signals, but not actual sign language. the only way people can ever figure out their name is them pointing at a name badge that they wear. they don't know how to read or write, but they can hear perfectly fine, and can give basic responses through hand signals. that all being said, if you are one of the lucky few that becomes good friends with scout, they may just speak to you.. or reveal their face.

foster is the oldest child of his family, at 16 years old. he's always looked a little older than he is, which can come in handy most of the time. he's the kid that, if the apocalypse hadn't happened, would try to get into bars and clubs with a fake id and actually get in and get the drink because he just looks older.

he acts older, too, which helps his case a lot. he was made to grow up pretty quick in the apocalypse, even if it is just the electricity going out. he loves his dad, but with his adoptive father, darcy, being reserved and as stubborn as he is, he had to learn to pick  the signs or when to do certain things, and how he could possibly get through this world when he feels so out of the loop on things.
