It was there that he had proposed to her (he had tried to here, but she stopped him), and now she was back, an extravagant ring on her finger. "Guys, I have a little announcement to make." She called, how pleased she was abundantly clear on her face.

Well, that wasn't strictly true; when she had gotten pregnant the first time she had thought that that was it, she and Richard would be together and that was that. But Mateo was different. She didn't know what their life together would look like right now, but they would figure it out. Maybe she would move part time to Northstar, or him to Los Santos. If not they'd make it work until other arrangements could be made.

Her best friend's appearance made Sel's grin widen. "Motherfucker put a ring on it!" She declared proudly, glancing down at the diamonds on her finger.

Bub had been as oblivious to Sel's antics while she disappeared as anybody else; though a warning she was going back to their family would've been nice, but alas, Bub still had no idea. So when the girl heard Sel calling about an announcement she really couldn't pin what it would be.

But still, she showed up and watched her sister with interest for about two seconds before Sel shouted and showed off a ring. The quiet warmth she'd been experiencing turned to icy protectiveness and she jumped up, immediately hurrying to Sel to peer at the ring.

It was pretty-looking, but Bub still grimaced under her mask. Did that mean Mateo was moving here? When were they gonna have the wedding, would it be after the baby was born? She'd have to beat him up now, just to assert her dominance.

The decision to go home had been made abruptly. She had been giving Mateo a tour of the nurseries, he'd gotten down on one knee and pulled out a ring box. Sel had cut him off, and a few minutes later they were setting out. The poor man had to know what he was marrying into, after all.

He better, the words were on the tip of Bub's tongue but she bit them back and nodded in agreement instead. Sel would only have the best, and even if Mateo was the best he still needed a bit of an ass-kicking so Bub knew he wasn't a coward, plus it was a convenient way of establishing herself at the top of the pack.

When she started thinking in terms of being the top of the pack, she wasn't sure; it seemed normal though, so she'd roll with it. "When's the wedding anyways? Do Mom and Dad know?" She asked, and then dropped her voice to a suspicious whisper. "Are you guys gonna elope?"

No one wanted to think of who they were engaged to as a coward. She wanted to point out that he hadn't run away from her, run away from the baby, but hadn't he though? He had left Bluestem Prairie behind due to the false accusations leveled against him, but why had he gone to Northstar? Why not come here? She'd never understand that.

"I just got the ring - we haven't set a date." Probably after the baby was born, so she'd be able to lose the bump and the weight and look damn fucking good in her dress.
