"Vanessa."
A quiet voice calls out to the black-haired woman. It's faint but she can still hear it. The voice is unfamiliar, yet so familiar to her. How odd and curious. Baby blue eyes softly blink as the voice continues to speak to her, a confused look crossing her pale face dusted in many light freckles and beauty marks.
"Vanessa. Get up. It's twelve o'clock and you still haven't woken up! Your father and brothers are waiting for you, so you can get to school!"
At that moment, realization hits Vanessa like a bullet. Her mother's voice still haunts her. Ever since she had died, alongside Vanessa's father and eldest brother. Their voices still haunted the woman. Dragged her down. She misses her family dearly. But, she wasn't here to share some sob story of missing her family with the locals. That was a personal matter. She leads a small group, where her family had once resided. A lonely island with barely anybody living there.
Luckily, the black-haired woman had thrown on a long-sleeved dress and thigh-length boots, along with a red scarf, to keep her warm. She's heard about this place. Flintlock Lodge. Lodge. That one word gave her enough information about what to wear and what not to wear. It was obviously cold near Flintlock, and she wasn't stupid.
Once, she had reached the front doors of the very large Hotel and she knocked, rather loudly.
"M'names Vanessa Monroe! I'd like to request an audience with your leader! I come from the Isle of Silver Sands!"

“ THE MOST TENDER PLACE IN MY HEART â€Â
evan  she, her  flintlock lodge   [url=http://]tags well, this was quite the predicament wasn't it? evan had expected it to happen sooner, so she wasn't exactly taken off guard, but she also wasn't sure how to handle it. evan leaned on the door frame, having opened it moments before, and looked vanessa over thoughtfully. "well, we can't really help you with that, as we don't have one, but if you'd like to discuss something with the group, feel free to come in." she had no idea where this girl was from and wasn't too sure that it would change much. isle of silver sands sounded like it was something out of a fantasy novel, not at all real life. not that that was in any way a bad thing, of course.

☁ hayley, on the other hand, had heard of the island group. they were small, but truth be told, so was flintlock. they seemed like a pleasant bunch from what she'd heard, though the grapevine had told her very little about them, truth be told. when their leader presented herself, hayley was immediately intrigued.
arms crossed low against her heavily pregnant frame, cardigan wrapped around her tightly to stay warm, the brunette looked vanessa over with a curious intrigue lingering within soft hazel eyes. ❝would you like a glass of tea while we all speak?❞ it was a long walk, and a cold one at that; she knew she'd have appreciated some tea when she arrived, but alas she'd arrived to an empty lodge. it seemed only polite to always keep a kettle on the fire for others.
"I would love to have one with you all." Shiloh examined the newcomer. She seemed nice enough.

Had she known Flintlock was leaderless, Vanessa would've chosen another time to visit, but none of the unfamiliar faces seemed to be bothered by her sudden visit. How pleasant. It'd been a long time since she was greeted with friendly faces, so she was comfortable around these strangers. She offers a soft smile to Evan, as the other woman had been the first to answer her knock. "I see. Perhaps, we could possibly have a majority of your group vote on whether or not we should become allies? Or maybe, a trial alliance? Of course, I'll come in. It's absolutely freezing out here!" Than, as soon as she was about to enter, the black-haired woman turned her head to glance at Hayley, still smiling.
Ocean-blue eyes studied the brunette's form, noticing her baby bump almost immediately. Ah, children. How lovely. Vanessa had enjoyed raising her baby siblings until they were old enough to take care of themselves, which was at least ten years or more ago. "Tea sounds nice, thanks." She commented, before adding. "Children are quite a handful at first, but it'll be easy as your child grows up. I know this, thanks to all of my baby siblings." She chuckled lightly, before falling silent once again.
Of course, the black-haired female blinks and offers a wave of greeting in Shiloh's direction, along with a small smile, before she wandered into the hotel, studying the room, curiosity in both of her beautiful blue eyes.

Chocolate brown hues glanced upward at the newcomer who had been led into the lodge, and almost immediately, he was interested. Hot damn, this chick made traveling through the snowy passes look easy. At the sight of someone so eye-catching walking through the front door, the young adult stood to his feet, standing tall and holding a confident gait as he sported a small, charming lopsided grin towards Vanessa. "Ey, name's Tommy, how d'you do?" The New Jerseyan greeted her, lifting his head. "'n yeah, stay for a while. No rush." Maybe she'd end up staying the night here, or maybe a few nights ( and maybe he could convince her to spend one in his room, if you catch my drift ). He'd just have to see how successful he would be in smooth-talking her, and if he failed, then he wouldn't push it, seeing as he wasn't some sort of obsessive creep.
The Italian-American kicked back in a chair, propping himself up casually by his elbows. "So, uh, what's this place you're talkin' about? Sounds uh.. beachy." Isle of Silver Sands? That sounded like Hawaii or Florida or something, except fancier. Tommy would be down to visit this place if it was as promising as it sounded. God knows that he could use a relaxing getaway, especially from this freezing and miserable cold that the winter brought to the mountains.

☁ as both vanessa and shiloh agreed to tea, hayley moved to the fireplace on the wall, grabbing a potholder to lift it from the embers on the side of the flame. there were various mugs kept beside it, for the ease of getting hot things into cold people as swiftly as possible, and she promptly began to pour the dark, orange-brown liquid into two of them.
❝i never had much of a mother myself, but i'm hoping to do right by her.❞ she spoke as she poured, smiling a bit at the topic before standing and motioning for vanessa to sit on one of the sofa's before offering the mugs to each of the women who'd asked for them. ❝so, an alliance. i've heard a bit about your group, but not a whole lot, truth be told. would you mind talking about it? what you guys stand for, your other allies or alliance requests, all of that?❞ she inquired curiously, perching herself on the edge of an armchair, folding the cardigan tighter over her form to keep warm.
her gaze shifted to evan, then to shiloh. ❝if it sounds agreeable to the four of us, and anyone who makes their way over, i think it would be alright to call a trial alliance until we get something official by the way of leadership?❞ the lodge was small, and the three women seemed to be the most active members of the bunch. besides gray, who didn't seem eager to stay permanently; brendan, who preferred his chickens over most of them; and emma, who generally seemed quite content with her comic books. there were others, sure, but like the men, they didn't seem all too caught up in the politics.

A single brow rose as she found herself staring at Tommy as the brown-eyed male spoke with a flirtatious tone. How, interesting and charming. No man had ever spoken to her in that manner, but perhaps it was because she'd been living alone on an isolated island for multiple years. A faint blush grew on Vanessa's face and she extended a hand in Tommy's direction for a brief handshake- as she wasn't sure how to respond to his suggestive tone. "M'names Vanessa, a pleasure, Tommy." The black-haired woman settled down on the sofa where Hayley had gestured her to sit. She took the mug filled with tea and held it against her lips, leaning back her head slightly and drinking the tea. "My parents and elder brother died when I was fifteen and I raised my siblings for a couple of years, but everyone slowly drifted apart. Everyone left our home, where Isle of Silver Sands is located, and I was the only one left. I can't blame them for leaving though, it was so lonely on that island until I decided to let anyone live there. Now, I can only wish for my siblings to return home. As for the trial alliance, I'm perfectly fine with it, but that's my personal opinion."
Her attention was taken away from everyone else and focused on the man as she heard him talking more. "The Isle of Silver Sands? Oh, it's absolutely gorgeous in my home! There's a large tropical forest that covers most of the island and there's a large volcano that won't ever erupt, so we live at the base of it. There's also boat docks on the beach and there's a pond that we usually put food coloring in for a special ceremony." Vanessa paused for a brief moment, but pulling the bangs out of her face and revealing a jewel mask on her forehead. "The high ranks, such as the Leader and Medics, wear these masks. It shows everyone the people with power."

☁ hayley's gaze flitted between vanessa and tommy throughout the exchange, a glint of amusement in her eyes. she wasn't one to judge, how could she? not that long before she'd been dancing about with and flirting with a badlander, and though it was in the name of keeping peace, she couldn't see any harm in tommy trying to seduce the woman  though she'd give him a hell of a talking to if he crossed her badly enough for the islanders to feel justified in trying to attack them. a talking to with her left boot, that was.
❝your group does sound lovely,❞ the brunette mused, bottom lip slipping through her teeth as she thought. ❝the, uh, alliance question though? have you extended this offer to any other groups, or do you plan to in the future?❞ while she wasn't sure it would change anyone's mind in the moment, it was something useful to know for the future; if things when sour with the badlands or the northstar district, it would help to know which side the isle stood on. ❝and in the event of conflict, what would be the isle's determining factor in choosing between it's allies?❞
