☁ hayley had sort of figured that the whole cutting-and-transporting process with the christmas tree would have been the hard part, and while it was no walk in the park, neither was unearthing the means to decorate the tree. finding ornaments that were in one piece was difficult, as was finding working lights.
she'd gone down the mountain to rummage through the village, checked the basement and every closet she could find. after spending hours setting up a solar panel on the roof, ensuring she did her best to stay out of the eyes of... well, everyone. she didn't want them to worry about her up there, they had better things to do and she didn't need to be treated like some helpless carrier-of-life that ought to be sheltered and fretted over.
by the time she had the lights and ornaments cleaned and shining, the sun was already beginning to set. she'd gone ahead and wrapped the lights around the tree, using a ladder to reach up to the top, and she plugged the end of the cord in, immediately illuminating the room with different colored lights.
grinning with satisfaction, she stepped back, hands on her hips, then glanced about. ❝anyone want to help me decorate the tree?❞ she called out, a cheerful look on her features. then: ❝i mean if i have to do it all by myself i might fall, and that could put the baby at risk. ladders are dangerous for pregnant women.❞ she didn't enjoy being babied, but if it could potentially rally the troops for some festivities, then damn it, she'd have to deal with it.
