oneshot ideas

— she's eight-ish and has her first real interaction with someone else; a teenage boy. before people only sort of left her food from a distance and walked away, but she came back and he was in her camp. she takes him down, ties him up, but they agree that she won't kill him if he teaches her how to trap animals, and in exchange she'll help him with his wounds. they make a deal, sort of become friends over the next weeks, but she comes back one day to find him leaving. "you don't need me anymore." "you promised you'd stay." they argue for a minute, she gets angry, and ends up killing him. this is probably where she stars to distrust other people.

— a group of people pretty much want to take the lake from her and they know she won't share it, so they try to poison her but she survives. when they realize she's still alive, they try to attack her, but she counters all of them and ends up capturing, torturing, and executing them. this seals the deal and she decides people fucking suck.

— when she first forays into society, a family takes her in and they try to kind of teach her to be civilized. just a remake of that ariel scene where she's all dressed up and her hair's done and she doesn't know what to do with the silverware.

she's,,, definitely bi, but probably has demi leanings? like she has a hard time getting close to other people and letting them in, let alone That Way. she'd be a great wingwoman though, so like if anyone ever needs help just call lake.

— she'd be very independent in any relationship, so whoever she was with couldn't be clingy. she's been alone all her life, and even with someone, she would very much need to remain herself.
— i don't see her being someone crazy about over-affection? hand holding, being around each other a lot, baby talk, it would just completely disinterest her. she wouldn't mind kissing in public or being in a public relationship, but her entire existence around that person wouldn't be based on their romance.
— she wouldn't say i love you first. and she might not say it back right away. even if she loves them, she's never loved anyone before and losing someone she loves is just unimaginably painful.
— at the same time she'd whoop a whole ass for anyone she even remotely cares about. she doesn't know how to do that feelings bullshit, but she does know how to protect people, and if you think about hurting someone she cares about, she'll kill you.
— even as an adult, i don't see her ever wanting kids. she just doesn't have any maternal instinct or capacity.

— on the note of her never wanting kids, maybe she gets some kind of injury to her ~lady parts~? like she gets stabbed in the uterus or something - not that area on purpose, but she gets stabbed and it happens to be there. obviously she's need time to recover, but whoever helped heal her would pretty much tell her like "yo the kid thing ain't happening", and she's totally okay with it, and people try to console her and think she's holding something in,,,, but she's not.

— she needs to beat someone's ass with a stick. like getting whipped with even a little thin one leaves some bad scars, so i have no doubt she can mess someone up that way.

— lake babysits and combusts because she doesn't know how to deal with a child.

— she joins the ranks of the pyros accidentally. like she's trying to cook and she thinks it's okay to start a bonfire inside and just burns down a house and she's like "yeah it's no big deal right these house things are super easy to build right?"

— at some point she's going to be a bad rebellious teenager and try a cigarette and just get so grossed out and disgusted and give every smoker so much shit talk.

— also? drunk lake? a total shit show. just a six foot two stumbling drunken mess, bumping into people and breaking things and laughing her ass off.

— she trains with someone and fights totally unhinged and dirty. i'm talking hair pulling, ball kicking, shoulder biting; someone has to explain to her that you restrain yourself when you train.
