waiting, waiting...
i fall asleep
Stonestar had to admit that when Rabbitkit had been born, the then warrior had been slightly worried about his size, and his odd... Well, everything. He hadn't expressed this sentiment, however, because he didn't want to say such cruel things about a mere kit who had plenty of time to grow and change. After all, when he had been a kit, he had been almost as small and unassuming. Of course, he hadn't had quite the same physical limits that Rabbit had, but he had been much different than his current large and sturdy form - ignoring the fact that he still felt like that scared and excited little kit at times, especially these days.

He hadn't been entirely surprised when Rabbitkit had turned to the path of healing. He wouldn't have said it himself, but he had kind of assumed that Rabbit wouldn't be able to become a full fledged warrior, given his wobbling and issues. Still, he was glad that they had a future medicine cat for their clan, and he wouldn't dare look down on Rabbitkit for choosing such an important role. Without medicine cats, they would probably all be dead from some battle or disease or another.

It still made his chest ache a bit to see a kit absentmindedly playing by himself, however, and he couldn't resist the urge to head over. Slipping down the rocks that went down in front of his den, Stonestar padded over and sat down, saying softly as he watched the kit curiously, "Boring day, isn't it?"
forsaken

To him, their leader is rather untouchable — though he thought that about the last, and look what happened there. Stonestar is strong, sturdy, a powerful and commanding figure; to know that he was once anything like Rabbit would likely turn the kit's world upside down, given how he assumes that Stonestar has always been the way he is today. Logically, he knows that's unrealistic, but he can't picture the larger tomcat as anything else.

Given his own views of himself, he never would have expected to have been approached by anybody — let alone Stone. Initially, as such, words fail him, and he flounders meekly, eyes wide and jaw slack. By the time he recovers, it occurs to him that he doesn't actually know what was said to him, and he feels his face heat with embarrassment. "Uh..." Rabbit stammers, one ear pinned to his skull. "Yeah, I— I guess. Sir." He hopes that makes sense; knowing him, it probably doesn't, but he's made his nest, so now he's got to lay in it. "How— how are you?" Any... leader business, or something more important than— well— this? It's not that he doesn't feel weirdly proud at being acknowledged, but it's such a rare event that he still finds it a little surreal.

[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; line-height: 13px;"]dogkit wasn’t small nor unassuming. he’s slightly taller than most kits his age, and it’s pretty useful when he needs to see over their heads. but it makes him feel more vulnerable, more noticeable. he’s often mistaken for a young apprentice in both mindset and appearance, and he dislikes it. when you’re caught up in the paranormal and ghosts, you’re used to less recognized stuff.

the day droned on, accompanied by the buzzing of bees and the chirps of birds. he paced the camp, lazily circling and passing dens. it’s too hot, or at least for him, to be productive, and he can’t imagine having long fur and suffering the heat. dog isn’t the type of kit who desires breaking out of camp, but he’s certainly considering doing it to get more water.

coming to a halt near rabbitkit and stonestar, the tabby trots over to join them. ”hello!” exclaims he, oblivious to his volume. taking a seat, he tilts his head up in a gesture towards the sun. observing the sky for any clouds, he adds, ”it is really boring. i hope it rains soon!”

[align=center][align=center][div style="0px; width:450px; height:auto; text-align: justify; font-size: 9pt; line-height:13px;"]Panthercry had always been a healthy kit. Her life hadn't been as.. difficult as some of the kits she'd come into contact with. It filled her with sadness sometimes, seeing kits lost or barely surviving. Warriors needed to be strong, but sometimes that just couldn't happen. Rabbitkit was one of those kits that she knew wouldn't last long as a warrior. Cactusbite didn't have an apprentice yet, so Panthercry could guess that Rabbitkit was an easy option. It was unfortunate, but it just made sense.

"Raining means wet fur, Dogkit." Panthercry murmurs, settling down in the small group that's gathered, dark eyes looking around at them all. "Perhaps you two'd want to sit in the shade? Tell a story? That'll get your mind off the weather."

Unassuming, even, and it does him more good than bad, really. One would think that to be overlooked would to feel excluded and ignored, and while that's true, to say that such things are sensations always steeped in negativity would be a lie. He likes to call this the lesser of two evils, the greater being the ridicule. He's certain other children don't mean to sound cruel when they open their mouths, but it sort of just... happens. One minute, they're calling for him to play, and the next they're dismissing the idea, defending their decision with an oh, yeah, I forgot you can't walk right and leaving him to agree. Yeah, I'll just slow you down. Other times, they strike him with insults — though again, he doesn't think their intentions are to sound malicious. After all, he is clumsy. Can something really be an insult if it's true?

He doesn't like to walk much, nor does he like to venture very far out of his den, let alone consider exploring beyond camp. It's wishful thinking, and he knows it, but despite the fact that he's always been relatively content in his little world, he can't help but feel envious of the people born healthier than him. (He keeps trying to tell himself that this must have been done with intent, for StarClan has placed him on a path of healing, but it still feels rather... odd to know that he's never had any other option, unless he wanted to live as a deadbeat for the rest of his life.) As such, he spends most of his time sat in one place, and it's boring, but it's the way things work, and he's never known anything different. It's what he's doing now, batting absentmindedly at a pebble and swaying like a branch in a storm, seeking some sort of respite from the creeping wave of apathy threatening to swallow his little mind whole.

How is it that I've fallen in love with you? How can it hurt this much? Never before have I ever wanted someone this much. If I say I miss you about a thousand times, will it reach you? If I try crying and fussing, will you know my feelings?
