After careful deliberation for quite a while, we as staff have decided to retire the "private vents" board along with allowing vents on Bearbones all together. This has been a long time coming, despite our best efforts to keep venting away from site matters or people on site, we've realized that we simply no longer can safely moderate and maintain a place for venting - we've put in a board for do not post/private vents, we've offered lists of people open to pms, and these matters have done little to help the issue. The sheer number of vents (and despite our efforts, vents about other people on Bearbones) is fighting against the reason why Bearbones was created: to create a safe and welcoming environment.
From now on, we will be asking that vent threads be removed. We will be removing the private vent board on Saturday the 7th. Any journal threads that are merely journals may be kept, but they need to have the word "journal" in the title so we know what we are and aren't moving. Any vents in journals will need to be removed. Of course, previous old vents from before this announcement was posted aren't breaking rules, and if there's a vent lost as we try and delete things, it's no worries. But from now on, any vents will be removed, and users pmed. As usual, any repeated/intentional rulebreaks will be punished appropriately.
Support center will now be used for asking for help and journals, that's it. We will be providing a list of alternatives to on-site venting, along with hotlines/websites/chat services that can be used in a case of crisis. Our rules will be updated shortly on this to prevent confusion with newer members.
On a more light note, we now have a positivity board. If you have a positivity dump, that board would be the place to put it.
As usual, if you have any questions, please feel free to pm a staff member.
