@はやと ＠アニちゃん、just to confirm: we decided that, collectively, they would call themselves - their race/species - the 天翼族 (tiānyì zú) / 天翼 (tiānyì). singular form would still be 天翼 (tiānyì) or 天卓绝 (tiān zhuójué; because some of them can be...pretentious af lol). humans would commonly mistake them for (and incorrectly refer to them as) 天使 (tiānshi; angels). while they share many attributes with angels, they are not nearly as virtuous or kind...at least, not towards anyone who is not of their own kind.
天翼 are, to put it simply, supernatural beings. they take many forms, and while most tend to be human-like, they can range from human-like to creatures straight out of mythology and beyond (they are all still one species, and treat each other as such). the one trait they all have in common is the presence of wings - which may be feathery like that of a bird, or diaphanous like that of an insect, or even leathery like that of a bat. 天翼 possess many supernatural powers - astral projection, phasing through matter, levitation, and telepathy, etc... some may have more than others, but those are the main four that every 天翼 would have. also, the 天翼 are actually able to fly without using their wings. most simply choose to, because their wings are their pride, their joy, and a symbol of their immortality - and so, they will flaunt them. it's what makes them superior to the humans (which are disdainfully referred to as "the wingless" among their kind).
天翼 do not need to eat, and instead, rely solely on the energy from the _____. they don't usually speak verbally and prefer to use telepathy, though they do use their mouths to sing. the voice of a 天翼 can be considered a dangerous weapon in of itself - it is said to be so beautiful, it can drive (mortal) listeners to insanity, hypnotise them, etc. (let's leave this vague for now until we manage to sort it out hhngh.)
they are psychologically similar to human beings; in that they feel pain and sorrow, they deeply care about their own, and they will absolutely seek to exact revenge on those who harm them - regardless of whether it was intentional or not (they're quite vengeful). despite the attributes they share with the human race, 天翼 are incredibly racist towards them, and don't even consider them to be sapient beings in their own right. in fact, they actually fail to understand that humans are capable of thinking and feeling at all. therefore, they think nothing of slaughtering them and using them as livestock. they deny any and all similarities between them and humans - to associate with them is considered 'shameful'. (though, there were a few 天翼 who have had their preconceptions shattered horrified by the immorality of their previous actions toward human beings - and they usually died out of despair, or they disappeared - never to be seen again.)
