Hunting in Windclan was definitely... different. She wouldn't consider it to be all that difficult on the factor that it was just hunting and making sure not to step on the dry grass here and there. She was glad that the current body that she had been reincarnated was a younger version of her body that had all the scars that had been on her other body. She wasn't the one to take pride in her scars though, far from it actually. The scars only reminded her of her mistakes, whether it was with her daughters or the way that she had shunned her mate after he had an accidental affair with someone else. She should have just forgiven Ashfeather back then, and allow him to see his kits as they were also his instead of running to Pinewhisker. Yet no matter how many times she tried to get away from that memory it never went away. The female had been trying to distract her mind with hunting despite her exhausted body right now. It seemed to be going well, even if she hadn't managed to really catch anything just yet. She had grown up in the forest, which meant that she had been used to hiding behind trees and catching squirrels. She wasn't a fan of squirrels though, as they had a stringy taste compared to most prey animal. Instead she actually really preferred voles, but those didn't really seem to be all that common the moors from the looks of it. She remembered hearing when she was just a kitten that the Windclanners are supposed to be the fastest creatures out there. Which is understandable as they have to run across large expanses and simply hope to catch their prey by running it down. It kinda reminded her of the way that dogs hunt their prey, as they aren't the one to really ambush all that much, and instead make sure that the creature simply runs out of exhaustion as they are known to have lots of stamina and then get on top of the prey from there. She's lucky that if she ever sees a dog in this place that is feral, she'll have to hope that she'll be able to reach a tree in time so that she doesn't get completely massacred. The domestic cat's white fur also didn't really help her out, as it was easy to see her body through the long grasses. Thanks to her exhaustion too, her pawsteps are definitely a lot heavier than she would have liked. Making it practically impossible to catch most rodents from the look of it. However, she isn't about to give up just yet. The one emotion that she had retained even after death being stubbornness, not willing to give up on such an easy task that these cats and dogs can so easily do.
Wintercloud was near the edge of the territory, which means she was near the edge of the grasses that covered this territory. There, her joints were killing her for remaining crouched for a really long time, the joints screaming at her for her to relax her muscles. She can't though, as she sees her prize right in front of her. It's a rabbit, a hare to be exactly and its almost the same size of her in compared to size. Was she that small? Maybe, but she didn't want to think about that right now. She moved carefully like she had been taught by her mentor years ago. When the creature starts eating, make your movements slow as you make your way forward. Approach downwind so that the prey doesn't smell you coming. Wintercloud almost laughs to herself as she has to constantly speak about the basics to herself so that she remembers not to mess up. Her golden optics are trained on the tanned pelt, her tail tip twitching in just the slightest. Due to her unusually long tail, Wintercloud has to keep the appendage slightly raised so that it doesn't drag against the ground and create unneeded noise. Her white claws dig into the ground slightly as she is poised ready to attack the hare at a moments notice. The hare stops eating and lifts its head up and begins to look around as if it could sense that there was something in the bushes. With the way that Wintercloud looks now, she could probably be considered a white lionness waiting for an ambush. As soon as the hare looks away, Wintercloud springs forward. The one thing that she underestimates though is the reaction time for the creature and it immediately springs into action just like she does. A hiss escapes her jaws as she sprints after the creature. She watches the hares back legs carefully and she thinks that she's so close, but not close enough to leap onto the creatures back to deliver the killing blow. So kicking off with her back legs, she jumps forward and lashes out with one of her paws. The limb is able to catch one of the rabbits leg, causing the prey animal to roll over onto itself, a screech leaving its jaws as it rolls. Wintercloud has no choice but to react as quickly as possible as thanks to the way that she jumped, her body collided with the ground at the same time. The former deputy quickly got back up onto her paws, and leaped onto the flank of the hare, sinking her fangs into the back of the creatures neck, severing its spinal cord with her needle like teeth. Due to the chance and the heart pounding in her chest, her cheeks can be seen inflating and deflating as she paints somewhat heavily. 10th time is the charm.
Now officially exhausted, the domestic cat gets back up onto her paws and grabs the dead hare by the scruff. She knows that during an entire day of hunting, only being able to grab one thing isn't something that should be proud about. Having grown up in the forest though, Wintercloud feels a rush of hope go through her system. She can do this. She can continue to live on. A smile spreads across her facial features as she begins to walk through camp, but as she does so, she notices that there is something coming toward her. Not having memorized the scents of each member just yet, the female practically jumps out of her skin when she sees a muzzle of a dog peek through the grass. To the point that she nearly drops her catch. The only thing that was able to give an idea of who it was, was the look of the canine, and she recognized it be Astra. A sigh of relief escapes her jaws as he lowers her head and drops the hare onto the ground. Was he going hunting? It was obvious that he had come from the direction of camp after all. "You scared the daylights out of me Astra! Where are you headed off to?" The first sentence that Wintercloud speaks sounds like she's angry, but she's just really teasing the other. Its her fault that she's afraid of a feral dog attacking her at any moment, more used to being around domestic cats most of her life. The next part of the sentence is spoken in a calm tone, with honest curiosity embedded in the tone. The young male seemed to be troubled, and she wondered why.
