Those in Flintlock Lodge tended to have a good nature, the community close and considerate, and it gave rise to frequent acts of compassion. Today, in the heart of the village, several members gathered together to host a charitable clothing giveaway. Of course Eddie would attend, but he felt uneasy in turning up with nothing more to give than his attention.

The old clothing that Charlotte no longer fit into spent most of its time nowadays collecting dust in a box. Personally, Eddie doubted he would ever have another daughter - at least not for a long time - and so what point would there be to keep the clothing around aside from sentimental reasons? He didn’t want to hold onto those memories in the form of little articles of clothing; it only reminded him of how quickly his baby girl was growing up. A melancholy feeling to say the very least.

So, holding onto a canvas bag filled with most of Charlotte’s old baby clothing, and holding onto Charlotte’s hand with his free hand, Eddie wandered into the empty store which temporarily acted as the hub for this act of goodwill. ❝ Don’t go too far. ❞ Eddie squeezed Charlotte’s hand gently before letting go, the young toddler wandering off to explore the store. The store itself was busier than Eddie had expected, which only impressed him more; he hoped that this idea could take off so that perhaps this charity store could be a more permanent addition to the village.

❝ Here’s a couple more clothes to add. ❞ Eddie passed the bag over to an NPC woman, the woman smiling as she took the bag and peered into it. ❝ Oh, they grow too fast, don’t they? ❞ She commented, Eddie turning his head to look over towards Charlotte as she wobbled over towards Brendan, Eddie nodding his head slowly. ❝ They do. ❞

He wandered towards the mirror to where Brendan was viewing the new clothes that he tried on, Eddie standing nearby with a moment of hesitance before gesturing feebly towards the hoodie. ❝ It suits you. The clothes, I mean. ❞ Eddie knew all too well that Brendan was a reserved teenager, probably grimacing internally at the thought of having Eddie stood nearby trying to initiate some semblance of  conversation. But, despite past tensions between then, Ed wouldn’t say that he disliked the teenager. Perhaps he felt as if he was treading on eggshells around Brendan, but he certainly did so with the hope of a breakthrough between him and Brendan someday.

Charlotte was by Eddie’s side again, this time wrapping her arms around his leg and leaning against him. ❝ Daddy- ❞ She mumbled coyly, adding, ❝ He has my fav- favor- fav- uh- favorite color on his shirt. ❞ Eddie lowered his gaze, lip twitching ever-so-slightly as he looked down at Charlotte, before he gently rested his hand on the back of her head. ❝ He does, doesn’t he? ❞ Finally, Ed looked back towards Brendan, ❝ You should keep it, else Lottie may steal it from you, ‘ey? ❞

the idea of a clothes giveaway hadn’t initially piqued fred’s interest. he didn’t have much to give away, and he didn’t necessarily need any more clothes. there was no reason for him to go down there. though as interest started going around flintlock about the giveaway, freddie decided it wouldn’t be the worst thing to go scope out. perhaps he’d find something that he actually liked (needless to say he didn’t need to worry about finding clothes he’d look good in; he believed looked good in everything, naturally).

stepping into the random building, he walked around and glanced at the multiple clothing items around the makeshift thrift store. of course he was the kind of person that touched just about every clothing article nearby without any sign of actually trying it on. ”daddy-” he turned his head to look towards the small trio - eddie, brendan, and charlotte. he tried not to retch at charlotte and eddie’s softness - parenthood was absolutely disgusting; where was eddie’s manhood? - and instead forced a smile to his lips as he wandered over towards the group. it paid off to be so good at masking true emotions.

“what a find,” he observed as he stepped over (he didn't know how to interact with reserved, introverted teenagers). he paused a moment before scooping little lottie up with an exaggerated grunt of effort. holding her in his arms, he tipped her back a bit as he feigned menacing grumble and said, “and look what i’ve found! i might have to keep this one, huh?” eddie knew of freddie’s dislike for kids - younger ones more than anything - but there was the occasional exception for his first-cousins-once-removed.

(( idk if i’ll jump full-swing back into roleplaying, but i couldn’t get this thread idea outta my head, so here we are: flintlock has a goodwill now ))

For the past few days, word was spreading around the lodge of a "clothes giveaway" happening in the village. Interest peaked, Brendan didn’t ask for details, goodness no, but he made sure to listen in on any conversations; people are giving away shirts and pants they no longer want, at least that’s what he gathers, and it’s happening in the village. All week, too, or maybe even forever—depends on how many people find interest in it, he guesses.

Huh.

Admittedly, this event had no place in Brendan’s schedule at all. Between the chickens, training, the chickens again, and even more training, Brendan juggles with the idea of attending this little event. After all, he’s perfectly fine with having a pile of old clothes stuffed under his bed, even if it’s all a bunch of crap he’d never look at again. And...and it’s not like he needs anything, right? He has a good collection of shirts and jeans, all perfectly neat and tidy. So long as those are in good shape, he’d be fine! Completely fine.

...Well, that was his mentality until he found a hole in one of those shirts.

So, there he is, in that random building in the village that he hasn’t bothered to touch until this hour, tugging on the brim of a pink hoodie he tossed on. Brendan...never really thought about wearing pink before, especially a pastel variant, but when he poses in the cracked mirror shoved in a corner of the building, he considers otherwise. It’s comfortable, he guesses. He’s sweating a little under the fabric, but it doesn’t itch when it brushes against his skin. And...he sniffs the armpit, and bobs his head up and down. Okay...okay. Shoving his hands in the pockets, he glances down at Roosty.

"What do you think, bud?" he asks, rotating his leg to test the worn out jeans he found (with a belt, they fit pretty snug). Roosty crows solemnly, fluffing out his feathers before he picks at his toes; snorting, Brendan smirks. "You’re so mean."
