//tw for drinking + drugs

Convincing Cat to stay in bed and give their body a well-deserved break was about as easy as talking a horse into drinking. It was only going to happen if they wanted to. The analogy sort of fell apart however, in one aspect. Because you could lead a horse to water, you couldn't lead Cat to bed. (Unless your name happened to be Gavril, but even then Cat still has stubborn moments.)

But it seemed that a couch in the casino was the next best thing. Cat got to feel like they were still present in the Badlands, while not actually doing anything. Why hadn't they thought of this sooner? It was made even better by the fact that Gavril had decided to join them. He had sat down on the couch length-wise, back against the arm of the couch. Cat had joined him, though they were definitely laying more on their boyfriend than anything else.

Their head was resting a few inches below his neck, and every few minutes a plume of smoke would drift down onto their face. For once they hadn't been annoyed when he did it accidentally, and gradually it turned into something Gav was definitely doing on purpose. The latest puff made them scrunch up their face, which brought out a laugh from their boyfriend. "I think you've... definitely gotten me high."

This caused Gav to laugh even more. "I did not!" He said, barely getting the words out through the laughter. Cat squinted at him. "You absolutely did. I know how I feel when I'm sober and this isn't it." Not that they really minded. Weirdly. They didn't have the same problems with weed that they did with... really just about everything else. Which was good, considering how much his boyfriend smoked.

And then there was Addy, suddenly calling out that they should have a party. Cat had spent enough time in bars to know that he was drunk, even without having to look over at him. And then - "Here. If I have any more - I'll get drunk." Ah, it was always funny to see wasted people insist they weren't. "I hate to break it to you," no they didn't, "but you're definitely drunk." Despite being high, it was the most they'd sounded like themself in days.

[align=center][div style="width: 375px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 7pt; line-height: 1.5;"]— As for Ellis, he was nowhere as proud as he wanted to feel. Instead, shoulders slouched as he held the cards in his hands, face plain and unmoving apart from eyes that shifted from his cards to the backs of Rae's. And then, the younger teenager revealed a ten. God dammit. Yet another win for Rae. For a game that revolved primarily around luck, Ellis sure as hell was taking the losses pretty personally. The noise and the humdrum of drunk adult interaction was drowned out by his own annoyance, inhaling sharply before throwing his cards down.

"Right..." He uttered monotonously, eyes following as his beloved iPod was prised out of his reach, Rae pocketing it for herself. To him, offering that his iPod was up for grabs was a huge gamble; after all, it was his most prized possession. If he and Rae were in a fire and he had to choose between Rae and his iPod, he'd... Well, you get the idea. He'd managed to convince himself that luck would be on his side this time round, though obviously luck only wanted to watch him fall. He cricked his neck before folding his arms across his chest, leaning on the counter and he then stared down at the cards that had betrayed him.

"Don't be a sore loser." Rae said. Ellis' eyes squinted very minutely; he wasn't being a sore loser. After all, he was going to be getting his iPod back anyways... Rae wouldn't have it for long, because Ellis would demand for it back in no time. And so, he finally relaxed, sighing as he turned to glance over to her. "Not being a sore loser." He was quiet as he mumbled, head quick to turn as he heard some guy's garbled announcement about some party. His eyes rolled - Of course some dipshit would get drunk enough to want to drag everyone into the same fate. This place was definitely going to get rowdy in here.

Rae leaned over the counter, reaching out for a bottle of alcohol. He wouldn't stop her, but he wouldn't praise her for this awful decision, either. He cocked a brow over at Rae, mainly a look of mild disappointment as she read the label of the liquor. "Um... No. I don't drink." He pointed out dully, shifting in his seat before muttering as a quiet afterthought, "You're not really going to drink that, are you?"

Why was he even here? There seemed to be an abundance of children abusing the very substance that he was trying so hard to avoid, being in the middle of this made no logical sense, though, he supposed being here just in case something happened seemed like a relatively good idea, seeing as these kids would probably not be able to take care of themselves, well some of them maybe, and Cat wasn't actually drunk... just high.

The dark haired man leaned against a nearby pole, crossing his arms and looking at the group of people, no, he would not be partaking in any of this, that was just asking for a bad situation to happen, and Mike really didn't want to go through sobering up again, and staying sober. It was almost a month now since he'd been sober, and in all honesty, it felt good, he definitely didn't want to fuck up all that progress.

"There's absolutely no way this situation could ever go wrong." Was his quiet sarcastic response to the situation in front of him, as he stood silently, staring at the catastrophe waiting to happen.

— tw. abuse of drugs

He squeezed his eyes shut, only to spring them open wide once again only moments later. There Lucerne was, sat uncomfortably on an puffy armchair in the casino, head resting against the headrest whilst he watched. The casino was buzzing - or was that the ringing in his ears? - as the usual hustle and bustle of evening affairs took place. Some people played card games, whilst others played pool. Some lounged across seats, smoking weed, whilst others would drink themselves into a temporary paralysis. Lucerne was the sensible and sober man - people must've assumed - as he sat calmly, disinterested in joining in with any hectic games or joking around. After all, Lucerne didn't quite do well with social interaction. He never understood social ques, nor did he even know what to say to make himself sound even mildly amusing.

The drugs were of great use to him. He knew how to communicate when high - Hell, sometimes he'd have fantastic conversations with others whilst he was high. In fact, it appeared that his highlights at the Badlands had been whilst in the intoxicated state. People enjoyed him more when he had his precious fix coursing through his body. When he was high, he was the Lucerne people actually liked the company of. Well, for the most part, anyway.

He'd not spoken very much to Addy since he saved the redhead's life. Not that he held any grudges against the man - in fact, he was so glad to see him still roaming the casino. He could've been dead. Instead, emotion seemed to stand between them yet again. Emotion tended to cloud Addy's judgement, Lucerne had to admit, but this time he couldn't really blame the younger man for feeling such a way. He had confessed his love for Lucerne, something which Lucerne could never give in return to Addy. After all, Lucerne couldn't do that to Addy. That was a burden far to heavy for Addy to live with. Instead, he squinted as Addy stumbled, holding onto a bar stool as support.

The tall and limber brunet slowly rested his chin on the palm of his hand as he observed curiously. Sharp blue orbs flitted across the casino, pinprick pupils landing on each and every person in the room as the announcement was made that there was going to be a party starting from now. "Everybody partying together. How wonderful." He commented to nobody in particular, words not unkind but most definitely riddled with sarcasm.

—  oh fuck.

while lucerne hadn’t particularly enjoyed addy’s taste in liquor, addy had to say that he definitely appreciated the casino’s own personal stash. at least, that was what he had decided a drink or two - or seven - in. he stumbled forward, grabbing onto a barstool for support. once he realized he wasn’t going to eat shit and fall on the casino floor, he couldn’t help but start laughing at his own lack of coordination. he’d always been wanting to get absolutely shitfaced. what else is there to do when you’re supposed to be recovering from a nasty knife wound? didn’t alcohol have- healing properties?

not at all, but at the moment addy personally didn’t give a flying fuck. who wouldn’t get absolutely shitfaced after confessing that they loved someone, and not hear “i love you” back? he grabbed his drink of vodka  - a whole damn bottle of it - and took a large gulp. yeah. he could drink to that- wait. what was he drinking for, again? … good.

“hey!” he exclaimed to nobody in particular, turning to point at - absolutely nobody. well. he’d had a 50/50 chance to point at something that was moving. just so happened that everything in the room was spinning.  “we should- have a fuckin’ party! starting now.” now, the redhead definitely wasn’t the partying he type. he wasn’t even the type of person to spend prolongs amounts of time with anyone in general - however, put enough drinks in him, and he was just fine with bothering everyone and trying to make sure he wasn’t the only drunk one in the room.

having a little social wouldn’t hurt anyone. he managed to stumble his way over towards the closest group of people. nobody would get hurt, yet. so long as they could handle their liquor. know their limit. like addy did. he was such a genius. all the doctors and medics in here could suck his-

turning towards someone (npc or one of your characters, i don’t care), he shoved the bottle of vodka in their hands. “here. if i have any more- i’ll- get drunk.” just the remark was enough for him to burst into laughter again. wow, his voice was so funny. why hadn’t anyone ever told him this before? what a bunch of assholes. he couldn’t help but keep laughing. what a bunch of bitches.

he settled for forcing himself to sit down in a chair - woah, gravity was a real bitch today - and simply watch as this amazing party idea began to be set in motion.

//so unlike addy it makes me cringe
but that's the point asdfjlkadsf

RAE MCLEOD | FOURTEEN | BIO

[ i mean tw for drinking but that's the whole thread innit ]

rae's expression was one of smug satisfaction as she turned over the worn playing card in her hand to reveal a fat ten. twenty-one - another victory. despite this game being a simple one which revolved more around luck than anything else, she was kicking ellis's ass. the two of them were sat on barstools playing blackjack on the sticky wooden surface of the bar with about the oldest set of playing cards the casino must possess. the place was relatively busy, a peaceful buzz filling the air, along with the smell of beer and liquor, which was something rae had previously been unfamiliar with but she was now beginning to find comfort in.

"read 'em and weep, parker," she declared, sliding ellis's ipod across the table and pocketing it, "i'll take that." she wouldn't keep the device, they both knew that - it was ellis's, after all, but she couldn't help but savour the moment. it felt good to beat ellis, and she was enjoying the confused and pissed off expression on his face.

she was very much enjoying the moment, but couldn't have expected it to get as good as it did, and the grin on her face widened when ellis threw his cards down in frustration, folding his arms. "hey man, don't be a sore loser, you'll show yourself up," she said through her hotshot smirk.

her victory was interrupted by addy's intoxicated announcement that there was to be a party - oh, goodie. rae's stomach leapt in excitement - she had been waiting for an opportunity to assert herself as the social butterfly ellis had been keeping her from being, and this was definitely a chance. the mention of alcohol unsettled her a little though. rae had never drunk alcohol, due to a combination of her young age and never quite being in the right place at the right time. however, she wouldn't hesitate now, reaching over the bar and grabbing the first bottle that she laid her hand on. rae briefly studying the faded label, and discovered that the mystery spirit she had chosen was a litre of barrel hitch whisky. no idea what that meant, but rae was now gently unscrewing the cap.

snickering at catalyst's snide remark to addy and shooting ellis a playful grin, she offered the bottle to the older boy, "you thirsty?" she knew ellis would refuse, at least at first, but was ready to play chicken with him. hopefully he would have something to prove after losing so spectacularly at cards.
