carson shrugged and didn’t look up at him.

Eddie stood there for a long moment before sighing and turning to go inside, moving to where Virgil was and practically blurting out, "I'm quitting my job."

virgil looked up and his eyes widened. “what? eddie, i didn’t mean you had to quit!” he said.

[peridot.]

"I know, but... It's not like I can't do high paying freelance jobs, and you make enough that you can support all of this as long as I do them occasionally. If I quit, I could stay home and take care of the kids, and you could get some rest.." He said, frowning determinedly.

he hesitated. “but that doesn’t offer a constant stable pay check and we’d be relying mostly on mine, which isn’t enough to even cover two people, much less nine..”

Eddie said quietly, frowning and sighing, "But... Virgil, I'm really starting to get worried about Carson... He seems like he needs someone around. Someone who isn't constantly gone..."

he frowned softly. “what did he say?” he asked.

[peridot.]

"He basically said that since I'm constantly working and you're always tired from working he feels like he has to take care of everyone.." He said, frowning a bit.

he frowned and looked down. “yeah.” he stated and continued his digging.

He bit his lip before looking down, "I'm sorry, Carson..."
