he chuckled. “just with a bit of stubble.” he chuckled and looked at the suit on the  mannequin behind it. it was the rest of the uniform. he looked to the owner and hesitated. “do you know who this belonged to?” he asked curiously. the owner hummed. “belong to a.. sergeant barnes, i believe.” the owner responded. “no way..” bucky breathers.

Steve glanced at Bucky. He was silent for a moment. “If you want the stuff back, I’ll pay for it, Bucky.” He murmured

he shook his head and hesitated, taking out his wallet. “how much?” he asked, moving to the counter. the owner blinked. “i’ve never once had someone come in and be interested in the suit.” he said and smiled slightly. “ah, just take it. i can tell you must’ve been related to the guy at least. you look exCtly like that picture i found in the pocket..” he said and showed bucky a folded picture, very faded and slightly water stained of him and steve when they had been younger and before steve had gotten the serum. bucky started at the picture and looked doença feeling little tears forming.

Steve glanced at Bucky. He set a hand on Bucky’s shoukder before looking at the store owner. “Thank you, sir.” Steve murmured, smiling.

after a moment, bucky went around the counter and hugged the old man, who blinked. he chuckled. “you’re welcome.” he said and watched as bucky went to remove everything from its stand.

Steve watched him. A faint smile formed on his lips as he watched his friend. “Alright. Come on Buck.” He murmured softly.

he nodded and folded up the uniform and walking it.

Steve watched him before starting to walk out alongside Bucky. Once the two were outside, he set a hand on his back, rubbing it slowly. “...I forgot how young and innocent you looked back then. That picture...Brought back a lot of memories. Most were good.” He said.

he nodded and sniffed, smiling weakly. “yeah..”

He watched him smiling. He really did miss how things used to be. But, they couldn’t go back. He’d just have to help Bucky adjust to life now.
