but when he was the Royal Steed Giraffe he was sir necksalot
then neckland was his casual name
longhorse was because his mom first described a giraffe as "sort of like a long necked horse"

ryland's physical fears are hands over his mouth, yelling in his face, grabbing his arms threateningly, grabbing and pulling his hair, and throwing him down on something, which all all punishment techniques from his dad rip
throwing things and anger in general too just freaks him out

- talked to finesse, told to become just friends (thread?)
[spoiler=the conversation that started this entire mess]he takes finesse's advice and talks to silas, telling him he forgot something at finesse's house. to fit the apocalypse, he'll probably go over and hand deliver it. he ends up acting bored and asks to hang out as friends; not with flirting, just as friends, no more weird stuff. he's immediately questioned for that, then forced into telling silas he likes him due to the question of "why are you being so serious about this", and ryland says that his attraction is stupid because silas likes juliette. (that was on 8/9). silas beats himself up after ryland confesses he likes him, and ryland listens; lots of things come into light after that. silas says he feels like he's desperate and that's why he's going for juliette, talks about not having friends due to being difficult, says he's annoying, says he's hurt by what people say about him, tells ryland he cries over things people say, and confesses having no self-esteem / faking it due to the constant berating. ryland is over here trying to make him feel more appreciated by talking about begging for his attention and taking notice whenever silas vanishes from the chat and whatnot (adapt that to walking away, maybe). he calls out his front, and he offers himself as a ranting buddy, which silas accepts. after silas opens up, he steps back to let ryland say what's on his mind, and he just says it's, of course, silas. ryland confesses he's afraid that silas only wants him for lust reasons and that's why he's ending it himself. silas says that he's found that to be true, and he tries to work something out, but ryland says no since it hurts him to feel like he's being used like that. silas gets defensive and says the conversation is stupid, and ryland tries to calm him down by saying he doesn't want to get in the way of him and julitette, but if he WANTS him to get in the way, he guesses he's okay with that idea. silas ignores this and keeps going on about how no one in the camp matters to him, no one would care if he'd leave, and says "fuck you, ryland" which makes ryland have a big oof inside, but he sucks it up and says that that sentence is where people hit his cold dead heart and give up, but he's not going to give up because he cares and whatnot. silas says that nothing about the conversation matters to him, and if it did, ryland would know. fancy that, he does know! he also bottles things up and says that silas needs to be able to have someone to talk to because he knows how much it fucking sucks and he cares. silas says he'll learn to stop caring eventually and ryland is like shrug emoji and says so be it, because he has his reasons, this is his life, and he can make his own decisions even though he doesnt even know why he likes silas. it just is how it is. silas gives up and finally says they have a lot to get to know about each other and apologizes (wow apology number 1) for losing his cool. ryland tries to clear the air by telling him how to compliment girls and he's like "shit i know nothing i'm 24 and hopeless" and ryland's like "SAME BRO" anyway. silas brings up his kiddo and says he's messed up all his shots at relationships and ry is just like?? just go see him, it's not too late to be a dad BUT WAIT. he says he's in a cult and ryland is like "well shit." but he doesn't get put off, they just chat about how shitty the cult is and silas is like" why am i opening up so much this is weird" and ryland does another shrug emoji. i originally made ry's dad a small part of his life so the "left at two, died at six" thing is wrong. his dad left at 6, his mom died at 9. anyway he tells silas his own tragic backstory which isnt very tragic in comparison and then they bond over their mutual favorite ice cream (mint chocolate chip, but that might have to be changed?? or maybe not, could have been before the blackout). then they talk about how much they don't like their bodies and then chat about their mutual love of music with a few compliments sprinkled in there. finally silas asks if he's still going to come over later and ryland says yeet and then i guess in this thread he'd give him some time before the hangout. silas mentions it's strange ryland gets him so well and kind of hints to getting to know each other better and then tells him he's allowed to call him sy; they talk about nicknames, ryland brings up his horrible "rylie-bug" nickname and her brother's worse "tommy-wommy" nickname god those are bad. anyway they just chat a bit about how "perceptive" they are, make a few jokes, talk about barbie lmAO, and then silas mentions asking out jules and here's where things have to change. maybe silas could talk about having wanted to ask out jules today or something thanks to dylan, ryland could cheer him on sadly and say she could be just like he was and like sy without him knowing, and silas mentions that he wishes he could have gotten a kiss or something from ryland before he went for jules. ryland says just tonight, this one night they hang out, they can do whatever he wants romantically, within reason. so basically the hangout planned for later turns into a date. silas rants about being confused because now he wants to go on two dates but he says juliette doesnt make him feel the same way ryland does. they talk about their weird double date thing, and ry calls himself basically a back up if things dont go well with her. then they flirt. a lot. lot of flirting. at this point we can just have it taper off so ryland can go clean and silas can have a while to cool off. end of the thread??
