this young man is named valentin pierre roux, after a close friend of his mothers, but he generally prefers to go by [color=#90B8C0]val, most of his peers can't properly pronounce any of his names and it's just easier that way. val is a [color=#90B8C0]16-22 year old (though i prefer to play him around ages 17-19). he was born [color=#90B8C0]feburary 4th, which makes him an [color=#90B8C0]aquarius. he was born in [color=#90B8C0]bastille, paris and lived there with his parents until he was eight, which is when he moved to america with his mother to get away from their father and to live his life as boy. val is a transgender individual who was [color=#90B8C0]assigned female at birth but identifies as a [color=#90B8C0]non binary boy and began puberty blockers when he moved to the states and subsequently testosterone. val is [color=#90B8C0]gay and only finds himself attracted to men or masculine-aligned individuals. val's first language is obviously [color=#90B8C0]french, and that is still the primary language he speaks with his mother at home but now that he lives in america, he is also fluent in [color=#90B8C0]english val is a very soft looking boy. he has a softer jawline, pale skin and a messy mop of hair that he doesn't really do anything with. he has dark brown eyes that are deep set in his skull, darkened by a lack of sleep. he's about 5'9, and his limbs are gangly and a bit awkward. he tends to dress in varying shades of jeans and looser sweatshirts, t shirts and sweaters. he has naturally dark chestnut brown hair but he's been known to change the color. (blonde, black and purple are his favorites) val roux is a complicated person. he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was 15 and before him and his mother left, his father was an overbearing person at best and an abusive person at worst. because of the combination of these factors, val is a very conflicting person. he has a deep need for validation and attention from his peers and from people he perceives as authority figures, but he also prides himself on being able to reject expectations others put on him and to ignore what people think of him. when val is manic, he is overconfident, cocky even, and extremely self assured. when he gets depressed, things are a little more wishy-washy, and he relies more on external validation. generally, he can be a pretty sensitive person. he's very empathetic, especially towards situations he can relate to (mainly transphobia, abusive fathers and mental illness). val is also prone to impulsivity, especially when manic.
