James’ fortieth birthday was when they had Buddy, who was a two years old male Pembroke Welsh Corgi, as a present from Melantha and few others of their friends. Buddy was given to them a day after their birthday because
someone (
Marcus ) didn’t look after him properly when asked to, which led Buddy gone missing for a couple hours, but James didn’t mind as they was just glad their new friend turned out to be okay.
The reason James named him Buddy because, well, they’s a simple bitch. Really, though, they thought it’d be a fitting name for him. Nothing special. "
He looks like a Buddy to me," explained James, shrugging. Plus hearing the name out loud, especially with excitement and happiness, was satisfying to him. It’s clear James would take any opportunity to say his name.
At first, even though James was happy they had a dog, they was a tad nervous being responsible for Buddy when they thought about it, afraid they would do something that could harm him. They received some advice from those who had experienced taking care of dogs. Even a few people offered to guide them through until they was capable of doing it alone. They ended up having Caleb taking the role and it went surprisingly well.
James wasn’t complaining though; definitely, did it made them feel like a great dad.
For some reason, after a week of having Buddy, James noticed he had his own little companion out of no where; it was a tiny pumpkin. No matter where he goes, he always carried it with him, as he seemed to find it a joy. Pretty much everyone found it an adorable sight, and James decided to call the pumpkin, Orange. ( This time, they truly was a simple bitch at giving out names. )
James brought a bandana for Buddy when they were at a pet shop for the first time because they thought he would look badass wearing it, which he does, in case you’re wondering. Buddy didn’t mind having a clothing on him. He was rather pleased with it, much to James’ joy. Every now and then, James would wear their own bandana and give Buddy and themself code names while they pretended they were on a mission.
Speaking of missions, there were some times James actually allowed Buddy to join with them on a missionâ€â€only the less dangerous ones that especially doesn’t have to do with the supernatural and paranormal, obviously. During those kind of moments, Buddy was known to be a great helper as he was always willing to assist James, if it meant to make them safe and satisfied. One gotta admit they’re a perfect duo.
On the other hand, Buddy was downright eager towards James, even during their first few interactions. The thought of being in a bigger world than an animal shelter with someone who loved him was exciting to him, and he was determined to make that person the happiest one in the universe. Though, because of his sheer eagerness, it usually turned into curiosity, and it could lead him doing something harmful to himself or made him disobedient at times, as he couldn’t help himself. Nevertheless, James loved him all the same.
They were close quite quickly after they were used to their presence. They both found each other’s presences highly comforting and delightful to be with to the point they didn’t like to be separated. Not being with another at a certain amount of time often led to unease, which was why James allowed Buddy to sleep on their bed. They were greatest of friends. James was always grateful that they had Buddy out of anyone else, and Buddy would think the same. They truly were a perfect duo.
