devon is definitely the GO WITH THE FLOW type of person. he is very SOFT SPOKEN, which tends to cause him to be walked over. he is a pretty GENTLE SOUL who likes most people as long as they're nice as well. devon is also a HARDWORKER at literally anything that he's working on. he has become a product of his over demanding parents, making him a PEOPLE PLEASER, but he's starting to put more time into himself instead of trying to be what others want him to be. when he gets used to situations and people, he can be quite FUNNY which comes to a shock to some. also, he is actually extremely PROTECTIVE of the ones he cares about and this is the only reason he ever really gets into trouble.
history
devon j greene is the eldest child of ezekiel and tinity greene. they were a strict, roman catholic couple and brought devon up that way as well.
his parents always help him to high standards, expecting their boy to excel in all areas of life. he was an honor roll student, a large part of the church choir, went to church every sunday, and worked very hard at all of those things. he had to be dedicated and see results in all those things, otherwise his parents were disappointed.
at age thirteen, ezekiel wanted devon to try out for the school football team. the poor boy hated this, having no interest in sports, but also wanted to make his father proud. devon just barely made the team and dreaded practice every single day. as the season progressed, he wasn't put in once, which was fine by him, but zeke was not impressed and pushed devon to get better. he tried and tried and tried, but it was just not his thing. his dad is still upset about it to this day.
when devon was seventeen, he was outed to his parents by the church's big mouth kid. his parents kicked him out. he luckily was able to stay with a friend while it all cooled down. his mother regretted kicking him out and begged for him to come back, which he did, but his father refused to look at him, let alone talk to him. this went on until he moved out at eighteen. the relationship has slowly begun to mend as the love for his son outweighs the learned hate of his sexuality, but it's still a work in progress.
his parents ended up having two other children after he moved out. two girls, one named ivy and the other malia. devon adores these girls and is basically the best big brother. he makes it his goal to see them at least once a week.

beau mateo valdez is the first born to mateo and malina valdez, a newly immigrated man from puerto rico and a woman just getting her start in the world. they didn’t have much money, but managed to scrap together enough each month to pay rent on a small san francisco townhouse. they lived a frugal life, but made the best they could for beau.
mateo showed his son soccer at a very young age, but never thought he’d be so good or like it so much. beau learned everything about soccer from his father, starting at about four.
at nine years old, his sister was born, amor nirvana dulce valdez; beau fell in love. the two were very close. he played a big role in her life, including teaching amor how to play soccer, being her chauffeur (and eventually teaching her how to drive herself), been very protective, and being her constant support.
then he went to college. he got involved with the wrong crowd and really changed. the usually sweet, caring boy turned hostile and acted like he didn't care about anything. he was away at college, so his family was stuck just watching it all go downhill. after awhile, he got wrapped up in a robbery that he didn't know about. his friends robbed a convenience store and shot and killed the clerk that was working; beau was in the getaway car. he was tried at twenty-two with a public defender and charged with being accessory to robbery and homicide shortly before turning twenty-three. the jury and judge were racist and he was sentenced to seven years.
