So far nothing he'd tried to cool himself off had worked. Hell, he'd even tried hunting, but had ended up gutting the poor thing into nearly inedible pieces. He'd had to finish it off himself because there was no way he could've salvaged the carcass and brought it back all the way to their temporary digs. Not even that had managed to melt his restlessness, however.
Even with the radiation poisoning, he was still a formidable opponent. He set his tail lashing as he paced the main camp area. "We need some sparring in here," he growled. "Or at least something to burn off the fat from some of you and grow some muscles on others."

He'd done it with his siblings, but it was nothing compared to actual fighting - spars had rules, and rule number one was that you couldn't kill your opponent, which was what he might as well end up doing with his mouth. He was a dog, and dogs used their jaws and their claws, not guns and knives like the humans did; if one was without the other, than what hope did you have? None. Because the enemy would always have one up on you, and unless you were hiding tricks up your sleeves, then it was better left to people that had all their assets in check. So Quietus could not compete, even if he did want a bit of a fight, because he didn't want to poison someone on instinct. It was times like these that he hated the radiation and how it had robbed him off what normal life he'd had before it got too bad for him to continue on as normal.
"We don't need to waste the herbs we have on infected scratches you'll doubtless get from it." the ebony dog said, his right ear twitching as he eyed the lion warily. From what he'd seen, the more outspoken members hadn't been as big as this guy or the tiger that had shown up, and with how hungry and weak everyone was and how little herbs you could find in this mountain area (leaving out powers), it was useless to waste energy fighting people that you were working with, even if it was for practice. "Unless you're going to tend to your own injuries, with your own herbs, on your own time."

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]Grimpaw, surprisingly or not, was holding his cool just fine. Despite everything that had happened, he was calm, he was alright. It was easier to be in control than to lose it like Lucifer was trying to. People who can't lock away their nervous energy annoy him. They're going to end up hurting someone, and although he was far from medically-minded, his friend was. Like the other dog, he thinks to infection and injuries, then shakes his head. He doesn't stand too close to Quietus, but perhaps close enough to show that he wouldn't be participating. Although the ten month old canine isn't quite to his full size, he's still almost three feet tall and well-trained. He wouldn't have made it easy on Lucifer. "People are still healing from the climb up here and you want a fight?" Grim's tone is accusatory, some of the thick fur along his spine raising every so faintly. "It's a waste of energy." He's young, and not all that intimidating compared to a lion  hopefully some reason made it through.

Sparring sessions never seemed to go well, in her experience. Generally, either they fizzled out with nothing being learned, or they devolved into actual fighting, with one or more participants being injured and needing medical attention in some way. Maybe in pro-clans, or larger clans, it was easier to regulate them and get actual use out of them, but she had yet to see any such session succeed. (Maybe some of that cynicism stemmed from her own relative lack of fighting ability... but it was a valid concern.)
All told, she wasn’t entirely inclined to endorse a sparring session at the moment, she reflected as she approached alongside the others. However, the idea of practicing moves did have some merit, even if actually fighting was unlikely to end well. â€ÂÂJust to play devil’s advocate... it’s possible to practice certain skills without actually needing to engage with a live opponent,†the Utonagan commented lowly, flicking an ear.

[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; line-height: 12px;"]sparring had never been introduced to the baby, and perhaps with good reason. it wouldn’t have gone well, even if it was nothing but good intentions. he was so vulnerable to being hurt or killed, far more than someone his age should be. there was dangers and accidents galore, and one wrong move could send him to his grave.
his attention had caught on the slowly growing crowd forming around lucifer. bounding over, the new word stealing his interest, he tilted his head. obviously the others had been against the idea of sparring, and from what he picked up, it would cost energy and herbs. excited by the mention of medicinal plants, his forepaws fidgeted. â€ÂÂwhat’s sparring? if we do it, can i help with herbs?†bub inquired, a small grin on his face. he hadn’t seen any herbs except for the ones the medics of the group had. was that bad? had the herbs been hurt by the war too? a little concerned, his paws began to fumble more, kneading the dirt.

[align=center][div style="background=; border:0;font-size: 9.6pt; text-align:justify; line-height: 1.2; width: 350px"]"stars, you all sound like my mother." he said as he moved over. it's not like he was all that tired from climbing, anyways. he had always been a very fit guy, and climbing had been one of his favourite hints since he was little, so he didn't see the big fuss. it was just a spar, anyways, so what could go wrong? "ill spar, lucifer."

[align=center][div style=" background-color: transparent; border: 0px solid black; width: 550px; min-height: 9px; font-family:; line-height: 110%; text-align: justify; color: black; padding: 20px"]A part of him felt a dull admiration in the way that Grim spoke up - when he'd been that young, he'd been too busy with hiding himself away to speak for himself. Old age brought wisdom, he supposed. "You're right, but since he hasn't set up any targets, he probably meant for bruises and sprains, not aches and pains." that rhymed. Being in the presence of intellectuals did this to him. Or it was the radiation going to his brain - it had done worse, but talking like this seemed a little too cruel of a trick. "Which is why it's stupid." he would not object to taunt limbs and those satisfying little sounds they made when you got some good training in for the first time in a while, but practicing against another person was a whole 'nother level. It was dangerous, and someone could get hurt, and they couldn't afford that right now.
A child decided to arrive at that precise moment, and he turned his head a little bit to eye him from the corners, but didn't divert his attention completely. "It's like play-fighting. But this hurts more." it was simple enough. "Maybe you can go and find herbs with one of the adults next time. Right now isn't the time." part of him felt odd for saying that, but he dismissed the feeling, his eyes drawn to movement in another corner as a member he didn't know loudly waved off their worried flocking in favor of doing the same thing they'd just warned Lucifer against. "Your mother was a smart woman. Shame that couldn't pass on to you - it's a good trait to have, I think." his voice was measured, and his eyes narrowed distastefully before averting completely. "Don't go running to the healers after. They have better things to do."

[align=center][div style="width:420px; background: transparent; border: 0px;"][justify] [tags] ✦ he couldn't agree more that this was ridiculously stupid. "we're the only group out here. there's no time to prepare for a war of sorts. hunting can get muscles moving just as easily, you know, something we actually need. or, oh, brilliant idea, you can help me and the other scarce amount of medics find herbs." god, lucifer was going to kill someone. it was ridiculous how hungry for power this man was. without leadership, he was longing to fight.
licoricetwist glanced over at bubblepup and quietus, lips pushing downward. he had been the same, once, looking over baskets of herbs as they were collecting and marveling at belladonna's gardening skills. curiosity was strong with him from a young age. cori was always so used to observing, never participating, it was a shock when he was appointed to be belladonna's apprentice. he frowned for a moment longer, then moved over beside the puppy. he knelled down beside him, coming to rest at his stomach, his little basket resting on his shoulders. "hey, if you want, you can help me with herbs later if anyone needs them, okay?"
cori took down his basket, organizing the few emergency leaves that had fallen from their places. "knowing these two, they'll probably need it."
Lucifer's lips peeled back and he snarled when prissy answer after weak member answered his prompt in a whining manner. "If any of you think that we're the last ones out there then you're as stupid as you are soft. I'm certain there are other pockets of life, and it's only a matter of time before they hear of ours and decide maybe they want it for themselves. So while the rest of you are butchered like lambs," he smirked as he sent a glance over to Seija, "maybe Rev and I will be the only survivors." With that, he gave a nod to Revolutionarywar.
"You can't learn things like reflexes or improve them without actually applying it in real situations. Words and books only ever get you so far, but assuming you've lived a peaceful life, you wouldn't know that," he scoffed. Done with the losers, he turned back to Rev.
"I was thinking to either mercy or first to five landed blows -- no teeth and sheathed claws. Which would you prefer?" He wasn't a complete mindless fool as everyone seemed to think. Lucifer was merely looking to blow off some steam, and have at least one member of their motley group in fighting shape in case the worst came true.
