i realized i only play characters with dead siblings that they directly caused/inadvertently caused so i need. to really switch things up

i have a new character idea but
i need to know if y'all like it or if it's sorta... bland

[spoiler=the idea]1. a character who almost resembles benjamin franklin in a way, they're highly intelligent and an incredible diplomat with a fascination with the sciences. their father was a former government official and a scientist who was trying to battle the inevitable power shut-down and then continued to try and fix it long after it had gone out.  this character was raised in the hectic aftermath of the apocalypse and has seen so much shit go down, however, his father installed in him that one day they would be able to bring the power back and this character has been spending the entirety of their life struggling to figure out how. they're a nerd and a little bit impulsive and possible a little bit of a mad scientist who honestly believes that if one could figure out how to harness lightening or some other kind of natural electrical source that one day they'll be able to bring the power back. he doesn't know what it was like before everything but he has read a lot and even keeps his father's journal on him in case he one day manages to figure it out and please his father. also, he's probably got some wicked scars over his back because he's been struck by lightening in his determination to bring back the power.[/spoiler]
