He frowned and moved to search his own pockets, before he found the backup inhaler he always carried for the other. He handed it to Eddie and said gently, "Here, here, breathe..."

he quickly took a puff from the inhaler, trembling.

He sighed and gently ran his fingers through the other's hair, saying quietly as he hummed comfortingly, "You're okay, Eds... It's okay..."

after getting his cast off, eddie had scratched his wrists so much that it had actually turned red and richie had to hold his hands apart from each other. now, they were back at eds house, sitting in his bed and facing each other, the bus incident forgotten. eddie looked at richie, blinking. "before we got on the bus.. what was wrong? why were you acting so weird..?"

Richie would be lying if he said he hadn't ever thought about this before. In fact, he'd thought about it several times. But every time he did, it always ended badly. Eddie always ended up hating him, and calling him names, and deciding he didn't want to be friends anymore. Now that he was actually sitting across from the other, his heart was pounding rapidly, and he said softly, his hands clenched into fists on his lap, "Okay, I'll tell you, but... you have to promise me you won't hate me."

he blinked. "dude.. i could never actually hate you." he said.

He sighed and held the other close, gently resting a hand on the back of the other's head and saying quietly, "It's okay, you're safe. We're safe... deep breaths, Eddie..."
