Narin was sitting on the edge of her bed, a puzzle cube twisting through her hands as she tried to figure it out. She glanced up as she heard knocking, and the familiar mildly-stuttered voice of Johannes spoke.
"Yeah sure, come in." Narin said. The door wasn't locked - she had to room with Arlo and she didn't want to accidentally lock him out - and she wasn't doing anything that should make her worried. Though worry she did, since Johannes approaching her like this might mean the kid had finally convinced him to take action. Or it might mean he was just wanted to hang out, she didn't know.
Quickly, he pulled open the door, slipping inside with a quick, almost apologetic glance to her before he shut it behind him, and stood there, chewing on his lip. He..wasn't sure how to approach this. Still--he had to say something. "So. Um. I--we need...to talk, uh, and--I want to say--I mean--I don't...I'm not..planning, on...making any...quick, uh, rash decisions." He cleared his throat, giving her a bit of a pained smile. "But--I--well, I need to..know more about....why you're here. How you're here. I--don't know..a lot, personally, about the...Felix's?"

Narin's heart dropped, and she wasn't quite sure why. Well she knew that she'd been anticipating this for a while, and she figured she might as well tell the truth when the time came to make everything less painful. Still, it was.. Strange.
She tensed up for a second before immediately smoothing her composure out and relaxing again. She set the puzzle cube down and turned to face the dictator. He hadn't brought any noticeable weapons, so at least this wasn't going to be a full-on execution.
"I wouldn't blame you if you did." Narin said with a sigh. "I used to work for the Felix family - clan, mafia, whatever you want to call it - I used to be one of their higher-up Enforcers; a hired mercenary for them. I did all the dirty work they didn't want to do themselves until, ah, I left on bad terms with them and then I came here." Narin said with a shrug to mask her discomfort.
"I'm not still one of their goons." She added to clarify.
Johannes was biting his lip nervously, his hands stuffed in his pockets as she turned. He didn't want to do this--not after the way she'd helped them, already. But Gray--he couldn't just ignore this. It was his responsibility. She didn't seem...happy, but at least...she wasn't making this difficult. He nodded, taking it in. He was quiet for a moment, trying to...parse that.
So that's what Gray meant; even if she wasn't with them--they might not want her alive.
"...What kind of bad terms? Anything that might mean...they don't want you alive?"

She rubbed her arm nervously. "It doesn't matter. There isn't a shithead in their clan that can take me down." Narin said. "-But yes, they'd prefer if I was dead." She ended her statement there, not particularly wanting Johannes to keep pushing for a more definitive answer but at least this was steering him away from other questions.
Being interrogated was a new experience to her, usually she was the one doing the interrogating. But Johannes had her continued stay with the Lodge to hang over her head, even if he was too nice to point it out.
He was watching her carefully; he knew right now, her words weren't the only thing to look out for. The way she reacted, emotionally, physically--he wasn't sure he was the most observant person around; but it was clear this was..uncomfortable.
Well, he didn't need to look at her to tell that much. He was uncomfortable just...on principle. Still, this had to be done. So...she was..highly skilled. Or so she said; he wasn't sure whether this was...something he could just believe, or not. "So. You don't think--there's a danger of them....finding us. Or--or trying. Something."

"There's easily a chance, but it's a slim one. I don't believe they know where I went, and I don't think they'll bother attacking a major group just to get to me if they do know." Narin said confidently, though her body language easily portrayed her hidden nerves. They'd happily try an assassination and leave the rest of the Lodge out of the whole affair, but Johannes was concerned for the Lodge, not her.
He watched her carefully, eyes narrowing a bit. "Right. So...you're safe, with us." He didn't sound like he was asking a question, but he'd raised a brow, his head tilting slightly. "I--um, I know this isn't...fun, uh. I don't...." He hesitated. Telling your...opponent their worth. It wasn't smart. But who the fuck cared if he was smart--he didn't want Narin to be his opponent. "I don't want to kick you out. I just--want to be prepared. In case something does happen. You--I mean, you're one of us. If I didn't think you were, you wouldn't be here. I know, uh--I know there's...some issues, uh, in the past, I guess, but--hey. We didn't kick Jack out." He paused--was that something she'd think was a lapse in judgement? "Anyway, I just--okay, I don't--I don't want to know what you did. I'm sure it wasn't great. But you don't...I mean, they want you dead because you...stopped doing it. Or something. So that's--that's gotta count for something."

Narin listened to Johannes hesitant words, her blue eyes locked on him as he spoke. She was part of the Lodge, but if an arm got infected you'd amputate it anyways even if it was your arm.
Not kicking out Jack might've been a lapse in judgement - the guy was fucking dangerous and unpredictable - but she didn't comment on it. Johannes knew best on how to run the Lodge, and hey, if things crashed and burned it'd be on his head.
