[justify]When Melenda was very young, her mother ran out on her and her father. Growing up, she lived with her father, who was a famous Crime Novelist and her grandmother, who happened to be an actress and broadway performer. Her father was gone a lot when Melenda was a kid, because he was busy with his books, so Melenda was often stuck at home with her grandmother. Despite all of this, she still had a fairly normal childhood. Growing up, Melenda had always shown an interest in computers and technology. She even taught herself a bit of coding. When she was a teenager she even successfully hacked into a few internet sites that were related to animal testing and did a lot of damage to the sites. Since then, those places have shut down due to her hacking them. Thankfully, she never got caught.[/justify]

[justify]Santana didn't have the greatest childhood. Her parents got married when they were young. She doesn't know much about this, just that her mother was pregnant at the time and that her parents had run off together. She was born to a set of twins. They were identical, but the way you could tell them apart was easy. Naya had a mole on her left hand whereas Santana didn't. Santana and her sister had been born witches with magical powers, though they didn't know about these powers until later on in their lives.

When they were very young, Santana's father ran out on them. After this, her mother turned cold and distant. Her mother ended up showing signs of mental problems and eventually Santana and her sister were taken away from their mother. For years she and her sister were in and out of foster homes, never getting adopted. In a lot of the homes, they were never together either. They also spent plenty of time at group homes / orphanages growing up. Santana would make tally marks in a journal that she kept. The tally marks were color coded. In the journal she also wrote about every home she'd ever been in and what it was like there.

While in the foster care system, she and her sister were aloud to visit their mother on certain days of the week, as that was the deal their mother had made. When she was a teenager, her mother mysteriously died at the mental institution she had been staying at. She had never been told exactly what had happened to her mother and Santana had always wondered about that.

Eventually she got tired of being a foster child, so she and her sister made a plan to run off together. When they were old enough that was exactly what they did. Since then, Santana has been on her own. She and her twin sister aren't as close as they used to be, but they still keep in close contact with each other.[/justify]

Naya Lopez - Santana's identical twin. They don't always see eye to eye and sometimes get into fights.
Dannie Lopez - Santana's younger half brother. She's never met him, but she once got a letter from her father where he talked about the boy.

Quinnessance "Halley" Brennan is a 27 year old single mother with a 7 year old daughter named Beth. Currently Quinn is an anthropologist working at the Carlson Institute.

growing up, quinn was born into a single parent family. she's never met her father, he was never in the picture. she was raised by her mother, julia brennan - who happens to be an anthropologist. as a child, quinn happened to be very smart like her mother. she also happened to be a bit socially awkward and had trouble making friends.

in high school, quinn was apart of her school's choir group as well as the science club and animal rights club. when she was sixteen she graduated from high school early and decided to go to college to study anthropology. young quinn decided she wanted to be like her mother when she got older - her mother was her inspiration.

at age 20 quinn got pregnant. this pregnancy was unplanned. quinn had gotten out of a bad relationship with an ex - who she broke up with because he was a cheater. a month after the breakup, quinn discovered she was pregnant. quinn knew the baby had to be his, because he was the only man she'd ever had intercorse with. quinn knew she had to do the right thing and tell him about the baby but at first he didn't believe her. she didn't mind this and told him that she didn't want him to be in their daughter's life anyway. she wanted to do this on her own. despite that he still had quinn get a paternity test and was surprised to learn that she was telling the truth. he decided from there that he wanted to be a dad and threatened to take quinn to court if she didn't let him be in his child's life. surprisingly, aaron has been a good father to his daughter and he's been there for them whenever they needed him.

after college was over quinn got a job as an anthroplogists intern at the carlson insitute. after a few years of working there, the head anthropologist retired and handed the job over to quinn.

[justify]Shania Adams was born on March 16. When she was about 3 years old her parents got into a bad car accident and Shania happened to be in the car. Both of her parents died on the scene, but Shania had survived. Everyone was surprised that Shania had survived the fatal accident and was known as the miracle baby by everyone in the town. After that she'd been in and out of foster homes for a long time. When she was in the foster system she met a boy who was a few years older than her named Jasper, who acted like a surrogate brother towards her. She and Jasper had been in quite a few foster homes together over the years. Some of the families she lived with weren't all that nice and treated her terribly, but not all of them were that way and there was some who were really nice. It wasn't until years later that she and Jasper were both taken in by an older couple who later decided to adopt the two of them.[/justify]
