Abdus was no stranger to the nomadic life. In Iraq, he was born into poverty. Travelling was often done in order to stay where employement was or to find shelter whenever his family was kicked out or pushed away. After he had settled with a wife, children and a stable home, anarchy arose and revolts went off, society broke and eventually lead to the demise of his home, the death of his family and the return of the nomadic life.
It was tragic that all of that had happened. It was information no one knew about the man, information he would rather keep away from the public. Even Craig knew little about his old life and family.
How was he going to react knowing his lover was not only a married man before but a father? How was he going to react knowing he was married to a woman if anything?
He mentioned it a few times but... He still didn't know if the man was informed enough to really judge the situation.

The thoughts and many worries were overbearing, so Abdus went on a stroll. He walked on, a little hunched over, eyes scanning this new American environment he found himself upon before he heard the distant echo of whittling not too far ahead. Naturally, curiosity grabbed the man and he inched closer, closer, curious to know who was performing the art only to see Nathan settled comfortably with shavings of wood scattered about. Abdus was relieved to see a familiar face rather than a stranger - Nathan was one of the men who greeted him into this area, although they were merely acquaintances at least they were not strangers.
If it wouldn't have been for Moose, Abdus would have probably simply waved and walked away, but no, the instant the little brown dog caught the eyes of the man he grinned and walked closer, crouching down into a low squat before tilting his head over and mouthing a gentle 'hello!' towards the man's canine companion before he'd finally address him. "Can I pet him?"
He felt kind of like a dumb child asking that - what kind of grown man just asked random people to pet their dogs? Him, that's who. But still, he couldn't help but feel as if it was a little awkward. There was no reason for it to be awkward though, he'd rather ask since some dogs did not like affection, some dogs were service animals and couldn't get distracted, some dogs were sick. That's okay! Abdus just liked every dog and wanted to pet them - only if the dog would like it though.

Nate's initial instinct was to bark at him to get away from his dog, but abdus seemed enraptured with the mutt rather than hostile, so he let it be, giving no indication that he even minded except for a slight shift of his leg. Quirking an eyebrow at him, nate gave abdus a small half-smile of acknowledgement.

[b]"yeah. He loves attention. Little rat," he stated, chuckling as his dog lifted his head to give the man a yip, tail wagging a mile a minute. Nathan could unferstand why moose was so excited to see another person, seeing as neither the short dog nor his owner had had this much social interaction in quite the time. "if ya wanna get his leg kickin', scratch him behind the ear," he offered, before being reminded of all the questions flying around his mind for this guy. When had the blackout hit for him? How had he and craig found st. Peter's? How did he survive? Everyone had a story, and nathan's curiosity would not be sated until he heard abdus' story.

He had much more free time these days since he joined st. Peter's, and he wasn't sure what to do with it. He'd never had the security to just lie around in bed until the sun was high in the sky--not that he felt entirely secure here in st. Peter's, there were plenty of people who could kill him here--and had never before had any sort of supplies that he didn't have to fight in order to obtain. The realization that he had no purpose anymore hit him hard.

So naturally, nate had picked up a hobby. In one hand was his trusty knife, and in the other was a chunk of wood that he was carefully whittling away at, making the rough shape of a dog. It was quite obvious that he had little idea on what technique was best to use for carving things, but he still tried anyway. Numerous other chunks of wood sat beside him--wood he'd found lying around, or slightly rotted two-by-fours that he'd pulled from buildings. At his other side laid the small tan dog he owned, since he hadn't had the heart to leave moose at home today.
