idk if it can be fixed except for manually, though if you somehow run a script through the site to change specific symbols to specific other symbols that might help. in that thing I linked there was a script that did that, but idk a thing about coding either so? dunno

the idea is that it's previous posts, like i said. unless people are experiencing anything new causing an issue, then it shouldn't continue. if someone could try to update their sig or username to see if the problem is not just for past posts, that'd be really helpful

i highly doubt there's a way to fix old posts outside of manually, since the change was an update to an outdated character system

I could restore a backup but that'd mean putting the site in maintenance mode.

it would not risk losing mods, what would risk that is updating the site's software version which is not what's the issue here, though that is and always will be an issue so long as we have subs--but that's not what's going on here.
