- stanford was not born to crows' point, but he was so entranced with the world that he had to live there. he takes the smiling ones advice to heart, and has two cats that tell him what to do. tragically, he has a secret. he wasn't gifted with a blessing at birth. his life becomes a series of lies, and everyone believes it. he tells everyone that he has a blessing, and everyone believes him. however, when he's accused of murder, nobody believes his alibi, nobody believes that he truly is innocent. as he tells more and more truths, he comes to realize he might actually have a blessing.

- thorne has a fire blessing, as a naturally sarcastic human whenever he gets mad, stuff gets set on fire. unfortunately, he's incredibly blessed by being insanely popular as he is the "popular on social media" guy in their town, and having to deal with the very idiots that make him mad every day.
- evangeline has something scary but idk, probably Ultimate Blessing which is. she's a vessel for a smiling one and her animal is the only normal animal to exist
- evan is the newscaster, the Voice Of The Town if you will. his voice is perfect for the job, people claim it's perfect and nothing could compare to it buuut it's also incredibly hypnotic and people often have to do whatever the thing says
- alistair is probably a smiling one himself lmaoooo
- devon is like. cursed to obscurity something like that
- colin is that one homicide detective that showed up and realized the town was bonkin' bananas and is trying to tell the people that This Is  A Dangerous Town
- daniel is definitely not a smiling one, but he sure as hell isn't from around these parts or alternatively: a smiling one that has purposely forsaken his kind
- teddy is the guy who studies the smiling ones and probably knows more about them than you do. tragically nothing that the smiling ones can do can affect him, because he knows them better than they know themselves
