He missed his ex-fiancee, missed his Pokemon... Missed the warm rays of the sun and the cool, salty ocean breeze. His lab was under the care of his ex-fiancee, Professor Burnet, after much begging. His pokemon were also being cared for by her. He trusted her to take care of his lycanroc, snorlax, etc. She was good. Trustworthy. Why did he leave her, though? She was everything he wanted in a partner. Smart, kind, shared his enthusiasm, and was absolutely beautiful. He loved her but that love had faded away when she had disagreed with moving from Alola. He wanted to move to explore the world. He had so much to see, so much to do. He wanted to share it with the one person he loved..
But he wasn't around anymore.
His vision was blurring now. His lungs were burning and screaming for oxygen. "Air.. Air..! Air!" a voice yelled in his head. His body was limp until that voice spoke to him. Almost like a switch went off in the German shepherd's brain and his legs began moving in an attempt to propel his body up towards the water. The light that shown through the surface of the water was getting closer. He was so close. Kukui closed his eyes as he used the last bit of energy to break through the surface of the water. He threw himself out and dug his claws into the dirt to keep himself from slipping back in. Blood trickled down from his forehead but he was too occupied to notice the crimson ooze. He was alive and all because of the little voice that had yelled at him. Kukui pulled himself out onto the land and collapsed tiredly on his side, heaving and coughing out spouts of water. He didn't call out for help but instead smiled weakly, closing his eyes.
