Safer then where she came from? It must've been bad, then. He didn't try to think of what'd happened to her; that sort of felt like an invasion of privacy, even if they were just thoughts.

"No, its fine. I should explain." John said after she explained her ignorance. He supposed in more isolated places people just lived in familial groups, but around here there were larger powers so you had to band together or keep your head down. "The Badlands is the group living here, we're a vicious sort; I dunno if you can read, but we're basically the villains in every post-apocalyptic story. We stick together for strength and protection, and if you're weak you either keep your head down or you find protection. We're not all bad though, we look out for our own and we're probably the safest place out there so long as you can convince your groupmates you're strong." John explained, in the most harsh fashion he could. He didn't want to convince her to stay forever, though other people might; he just wanted to give it to her in a way where she could weigh the pros and cons herself.. Though she wasn't exactly in the shape to be doing so. "You can decide after you've rested, if you want."

Next she was asking about alcohol, and commenting on how easy to remember his name was. He prayed she just used his regular name; he wasn't the biggest fan of nicknames.
"I've got alcohol back at my house, I can get some for you." John offered. His roommates always made sure there was a steady supply of the stuff, though they might not be pleased with him stealing it. Oh well, they could both go fuck themselves in his opinion.[/justify]
