The casino was busy right now. People hooting and hollering at the tables, putting orders in at the bar, sitting around and chatting. The setting was more bustling than Nikolai preferred. He had been down here for a good while, playing quiet games of blackjack and poker with a small group of guys at a corner table. Now that things were becoming more crazy and chaotic, Nikolai figured that now it was time to head back up to his room.
The young man walked calmly through the crowds, shouldering his way past drunkards and socialites. He was caught off-guard when someone pulled him aside and exclaimed, "Come take a shot!" Nik did not like being dragged into things, especially things he didn't want to do. He is a bit flabbergasted that some random girl straight up grabbed him, but he takes a look at what she's offering -- vodka. "Hm." Nikolai lightly sneers, before drawing back and huffing, "Vodka is usually reserved for when I'm trying to black out." Usually, Nik blacking out meant that he was in party-mode or deep in his emotions. Vodka masked his pain, vodka made it easier to numb himself. He didn't drink it out of pleasure.
Nik declines Katya's offer, saying, "Think I'll stick to something more enjoyable." At least beverages like screwdrivers and malted beer had some sort of flavor to them. Vodka was just straight-up nasty, and Nik was no amateur drinker either.
