When he thanked her, she just smiled she didn't know what to say but a simple you're welcome didn't seem to fit. She didn't know what would, so she didn't talk. She just smiled her same Eury smile that she always did, hoping it was enough for now until she figured out what to say. If she ever could figure it out.
Did she remember their conversation? Even for that time frame, she couldn't figure out which conversation he was talking about. But then, he answered it for her. The topic of death was still a raw one, and her face probably said that but eventually, she'd just utter a small "Yes." She then listened closely as she looked towards him, listening as he talked about a topic so raw in her mind after losing Millie.
But she wasn't expecting this.
She felt like he explained it better, being scared of death, but part of her did feel relieved to hear that there was someone who shared her fear. She had been so embarrassed to tell Kai originally but hearing this, even though it caught her off guard, brought some comfort to her. Especially being singled out - "with her" - it made her smile "I like being with you too, for the record" she replied with a small and light giggle. Even if it was just a small blip of light in the conversation, but that's what Eurydice did.
Make small lights in dark times.
When Kai asked her that when the time came when it was time for him to die - or so she assumed as he was older - then they'd both go. Together. "Kai I-..." she paused, closing her mouth as she thought for a second about what to say. There were parts of her that wanted to say different things like what if either of them settled down, wouldn't it be odd if they went together? Another part wanted to know if he was serious or just trying to think of an outcome to lull her fears.
"Promise you won't back out of it?" she asked nervously, not wanting to agree to meet her biggest fear early if he would possibly back out of it later on. She didn't want to have this sitting on her knowing he could back out. However, there was still that thought "What if you settle down though? Wouldn't she think poorly if we still went together?" She used him as the example of course because at this point Eury had made it clear about this crush she had had all her life. It had always been one-sided, yes, but she was convinced at this point she would never really "settle down".
"But yes. I mean...if you promise to not back out then yeah, ok." she smiled at him "I'd like to not be alone and if we go together I never will be" she didn't like the thought of dying alone, but she also didn't want to be without Kai. This way she wasn't alone in any sense, she would get to leave with a familiar face - the last familiar face she had.
