Amor had approached a woman by the warehouses, Green’s lips faltering with confusion as it wasn’t often Northerners would find themselves hanging out around those parts. Without wearing the glasses he needed to at least somewhat help with his shocking eyesight, Green would barely question the irking sensation in his gut. He should have worn his glasses out more often, but he often didn’t feel the need to do so around these parts when he was so busy at work. Instead, they were used solely for around his home, if that. And so, Green began to wander over, mainly to ask whether Amor needed him to help carry anything back into the District following her foraging trip with Grizzly. Hands in the pockets of his jeans, Green felt little concern as he wandered closer—
At least until his eyes finally adjusted on Salem standing outside the warehouse.
That was when it all clicked.
He could still barely forgive her for her betrayal, his heart aching at the sight of her alone. That wasn’t what friends did, let alone continue to return and tear that ever-gaping hole in his heart where she’d broken it in the first place. ❝ Hey! ❞ Green barked, although he couldn’t help the way his voice wavered as dread quickly set in. ❝ What are you doing?! ❞ He gawked as he slowed to a halt beside Amor. The look of horror in his eyes spoke volumes; just when Northstar were gradually replacing their stock to look after the vulnerable in Northstar, here The Badlands were to steal it all again.
Green felt helpless in the situation — he didn’t even carry the fishing knife he kept on himself following the Mateo incident because The Badlands had stripped him bare of any weapons to protect his people. All he had was his bow and arrows, but how the hell could they be useful in this sort of situation? ❝ Elisa, please... You can’t do this! ❞ He exclaimed, voice raised somewhat as he threw his hands towards the warehouses. ❝ We’ve lost so much. So many people. You gotta understand this is killing us! ❞
Soon, a Badlander stepped out beside Salem, a tall and ominous man who threatened to reveal his handgun from its holster. Now that it was no longer between him and Salem, Green backed off somewhat, snapping his jaws shut before looking at Salem in the eyes. ❝ I won’t forget this. ❞ He murmured wretchedly, gritting his teeth before taking a step back and gesturing towards the warehouse again. ❝ Take what you want. ❞ His voice cracked as he uttered with defeat, shoulders slumping before shifting his gaze to watch Badlanders walking away with their things. Green chose his battles well, even though it broke his heart to watch all of his hard work wash down the drain yet again.
With a long exhalation and a bitter look in his eyes, Green promised to himself that this would be the last time they’d ever screw him over this way again. Whilst all instincts told him that flight was the only option, he still had a little bit of fight left in him. They'd find out some day.
