Torrin's diversion was successful in getting Gray to spin around to see what animal had gotten his attention, but he found he couldn't see anything there. That didn't mean there wasn't an animal, of course, it just was another reason he had to get better at remembering to bring his glasses. If there was something small or far away or quick enough to dart out of view, he completely missed it. It probably would have taken a whole deer for him to actually spot an animal, though he certainly tried.
"Where is -" he turned around and found that Torrin had disappeared yet again. "Tor, where the hell did you go?" He called, spinning around again, not sure whether to be frustrated or worried.
