INTRODUCTION.

located in the middle of a vast desert, the black dog motel stands like a paradise, lit up by neon lights and the flames of the gast pit, forever eternally lit. the residents of the hotel claim that the gas pit is the gateway to the underworld, and every month they must appease the spirits with a sacrifice. a martyr is often the one they send to the pit, with food and water to give to the ghosts that haunt the desert at night.

the abandoned hotel, left vacant due to the gas pit opening up, has proved to be the home to several animals. dogs, cats, and all types of creatures alike hide in the derelict building. they are a rough group, hardened by the desert's unforgiving bareness. the rule of "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" runs deep in the hearts of everyone. sharing side-eye glances and distrustful actions, yet tangling together like family, refusing to let anyone get hurt.



TERRITORY.

the territory sits nuzzled in a canyon, the rock forming a horseshoe around the desert. the way into/out of the camp is accessible by many points, paths engraved in the stone for ease of access. the biggest entrance is the start of the canyon, where a rock formation is set, with abandoned cars scattered around the long and wide path. there are cars flipped over and torn apart, claimed to have been damaged by the spirits of the underworld, angered by the lack of sacrifice.

after walking through the cars, you are met with thrown-together buildings, where the kingsnake gang sit. they are rogues that either attempt to rob your or make you join them. their houses are made of more cars, trailers, and planks of wood that were set up together to create their small little town. past the kingsnake grave, the motel sits right in the middle of the horseshoe, lit up against the dark like a beacon of hope.

the black dog motel is in good shape considering being abandoned for several years, having been renamed a few times before finally landing upon the name it has now. the sign for the motel stands the tallest, illuminating the road and the large string of buildings. the complex houses the sand cat station, an abandoned gas station just a bit away from the motel. that is where the meetings are held.

at the curve of the horseshoe canyon, the gas pit, Devil's Eye, sits. having been about a century year old, the gas pit is no longer as radioactive as it used to be. however, the fires that claw at the sand around it still have not been quenched. this is where the underworld gate is. an abysmal hole sits in the middle, glowing brighter than the sun. this area is off-limits, and is only opened when a sacrifice is to be made. a fence stands around the pit, locked with a key that the motelier keeps around their neck.

various water holes litter the desert, some staying full, but others drying up. the deepest watering hole, dingo's jewel, is used for cooling down. it is a neutral ground where the residents and the gang members can relax together. cacti, shrubbery, and various plants are also scattered around the canyon, most common around the water holes. dingo's jewel is the most populated with these plants. a large tree towards over the hole, giving good shade. another hole, xolo's bowl, is used for drinking. it's the freshest water source, as it is a natural spring. it is heavily guarded and entrance is only permitted during certain hours of the day. only high positions are able to access the spring at all times.



RANKS.

motelier (hp) - the leader of the group. the motelier is said to have walked out of the devil's eye themselves. they are in charge of the whole canyon and conducts the sacrifices. they have the ultimate say between residents and gang members. holds the key to the gate to the devil's eye. there can only be one.

king snake (hp) - representative of the gang. they are able to join meetings with a high position, but cannot lead one with the residents. they can host their own meeting with the gang. they can choose what the gang does. there can only be one.

clerk (hp) - second in command. they can host meetings if motelier is unavailable. if the motelier is unable to conduct the sacrifice, the clerk will stand in to do so. they are the ones who get to choose the martyr. there can only be one.

council (hp) - they can decide actions without the motelier's sayso. able to speak up at meetings. there can be up to two.

medic (hp) - the doctors. they take care of everyone, residents and gang members alike. there can be up to two.

nurse (hp) - under the medic. they are being trained to become medics. some decide to stay nurses to be able to help out. there can be up to four.

attendant (shp) - seasoned members. they are respected and have shown to be valuable members of the group. there can be up to five.

keeper (SHP) - members who have proven their worth. they lead patrols, greet newcomers, and can teach apprentices. there can be up to seven.

bell-hopper (SHP) - the apprentices under keepers. they must be over 6 months old. there can be up to seven.

residents - the members that live in the black dog motel. unlimited amount.

kingsnake gang - the members that live in the outskirts. unlimited amount.



RULES.

even a band as lawless as this, rules are still in place.

- keep your friends close, your enemies closer. nothing is worse than not watching that snake in the grass.
- starting a war between the gang and the group is prohibited. they may be rivals, but they are not enemies. doing such will send you to the devil's eye.
- do not start a fight in the dingo's jewel. the desert is a harsh place, but becoming greedy and fending off members is going to make the desert a whole lot more harsh.
- stealing from the residents or the gang is frowned upon. they're just trying to get by, stealing from them will make them hostile.
- attacking other groups without permission is also prohibited. black dog motel may be an antagonistic group, but attacking another without the motelier's permission will result in punishment.
- loyalty is key. those who chose to stay must swear loyalty. any suspicious activity will be questioned and it is up to the high positions to debate whether or not to act upon it.



RELIGIONS.

the residents and the gang do not follow religions. the only thing they offer sacrifices to is the devil's eye. they offer martyrs to keep their territory safe from the unwelcome spirits, and to hope for rain.



POLITICS.

the two factions, a gang more vicious than a venomous snake, and the residents, co-exist. the motel is a antagonistic group. they are very hostile towards newcomers and those they find untrustworthy. the motel and the gang are very loyal, to each other, protecting each other and their kin. they steal from others and refuse to give back.
