In fact, he believed that having such a gentle heart in a world so unkind was a sign of gallantry, not a sign of weakness. After all, these people ventured in a cruel world with soft skin whilst the majority remained cautious with their thick skin and guarded hearts. People like Green risked their own safety to provide others with a kindness they would receive from no one else, and maybe that was why Green adored his people’s peaceful natures. Strength didn’t come from brute force but from the ability to hold the weight of everyone’s world on one’s shoulders.
Perhaps this place wasn’t for everyone, though. Many people were far more used to shards of glass and bloodied knuckles than the nurturing embrace of a quaint coastal town where the weather was balmy and everyone knew each other’s name. It made it feel all the more safe when he could walk down the promenade, smiling and greeting Northerners as he passed by with his hands shoved in his pockets.
Until he passed by one of the newer members, JP. Green slowed to a stop, gaze darting across his features before lifting his hand as a wave. After hesitating for a moment, Green eventually began to speak. ❝ Enjoying the good weather today? ❞ He glanced up at the sky with squinted eyes and a hand to shield his gaze from the sun before adding, ❝ It only gets better as the weather warms up. ❞ As if he assumed JP would stick around.
