her childhood was peaceful, for the most part, unlike the rest of the kingdom under her father's control. ana had been sheltered, locked away in the castle as if she were some damsel in distress in a fairytale book. she could count the number of times she had been allowed to leave the safety of the walls on both hands, and the times where those excursions weren't accompanied by her father could be counted on one. with everything handed to her on a silver platter, and her name being spoken of with only the utmost respect, she grew up painfully unaware of her father's wrongdoings that left so many people broken in his path. the wingrave's weren't beloved like she had been told - they were feared.

ana didn't like the idea of her people being in fear whenever they would cross her path, something her father had set into stone without her knowledge for most of her life. as much as she wanted them to know she was on their side, they would never see the scars on her back for the time she spoke out against her father, and his ruthless ways. she would never get the chance to make all of the wrong in their kingdom right, and the attack against the royal family secured that. there was a deep longing to go back for her people, to step up to her rightful place on the throne, and change the path her father had been set in. bastian niles had strict orders, though. orders to bring her to a haven on the other side of the world it seemed, even though there was no one around to make sure he followed through on those orders. her people needed her, and she was running scared. the idea was hard to grasp, but slowly diminished as the time went on. even if she could have stayed around, they wouldn't see her as anything other than ronan wingrave's daughter, who was she to ask for their trust when it had been broken by her father so many times? new eden was better off without any wingrave around, and she was beginning to accept that the people she once loved had only ever painted her as a villain in their side of the story.

the rain had began to grow increasingly uncomfortable within only a few seconds of it starting. the coldness clung to her bare shoulders, sending a shiver down her spine as it made the ends of her once whimsical, but now torn up dress muddy. as soon as she saw a building in the distance, she was quick to request to bastian to stop there until the storm passed. ana sat on a stool in the rundown structure, damp hair clinging to her cheeks as she crossed one leg over the other, and rested her hands neatly in her lap. when his attention was focused back on the outside, her eyes shifted to look towards him, scanning for any emotions could pick up on. the normal butterflies that would pick up in her stomach upon looking at him were replaced with a small pain in her heart, something that had began happening more recently after she found out about the truth of her family. he must have hated her, she would if she were in his shoes. the hidden affections they shared behind closed doors spoke differently, but as much as she didn't want to think of it, there could always be ulterior motives to the kisses they shared. she tried to wipe those doubts from her mind, unaware that they were actually true.

the breath caught in her throat at, the sound of someone approaching, not having much time to react before he signaled for her to be quiet. her posture grew rigid, knuckles turning white as her grip grew stronger. had they found them that quickly? things moved in slow motion at first, the person entering through the doorway, and bastian raising a gun to their head. it took a few moments for it to pick back up once the person reacted.

anastasia's eyes narrowed as the girl pulled a knife out on bastian in return, standing up slowly to make sure she didn't make any sudden movements that interfered with the situation. "i suggest you take that knife away from my guard, paige." each move she made was calculated as she assessed the situation, the name of the group completely slipping her mind for the moment. "he has a gun, and you have a knife. i don't see any of your plans working out in your favor unless you listen, because you know..." there was a small pause, her eyebrow quirking up, and a small shrug of her shoulders. "'bringing a knife to a gun fight', and all of that." her eyes shifted between bastian, and paige, slowly beginning to reach for her own gun she had attached to her thigh holster under her dress. before she reached it though, more movement was heard towards the door, her hands shot up into the air, and a distressed look fell upon her face, pleading eyes focused on whoever entered the building. seeing none other than the northstar district leader made her posture loosen up.

"ah! mr. green, it's been awhile, has it not?" there was a new sweetness added to her voice towards the familiar face. had they really gotten that turned up to the point where they made it to northstar? she had accompanied her father a few times to meet with their trading partners, but witth the storm raging on outside, it made it nearly impossible to even recognize the place. if she did sooner, they wouldn't have even had to hide out in this shack. "had i known we made it all the way here, i would have expected a warmer welcome rather than one of your members holding a knife to my guard's neck." the lie slipped easily through her teeth, making the accusations that paige was the first to raise her weapon, and not bastian. a small glint in her eyes sparked as she looked towards him, encouraging him to go along with her deception. she didn't know if it would end up working in their favors, but there was no harm in trying to shift the situation they were in.
