All of these people that relied on him to fix the problem that was swiftly rearing its ugly head again. Last time, Green managed to send the group away, but could he be that lucky this time? ❝ So… I am sure you are all aware of the recent events. The Badlands managed to catch us off guard, raid us as we prepared for the festive season. ❞ He cracked a saddened, sympathetic smile.
❝ Several people were injured, but they’re on the road to recovery. Thank goodness nobody died this time, and I promise not another person will ever die by their hands. We lost a lot of valuables though. Medicine was taken from the clinic. Weapons were seized all across the city. Hell, they even took my fishing knife from me. ❞ He gestured to the empty sheath on his belt, a soft huff of disbelief passing his lips as he slowly shook his head.
❝ We need those goods back, but The Badlands… They’re a big group. They outnumber us by tenfold. ❞ Green sighed, a small grimace on his lips as he tipped his head to gaze up at the ceiling. He was very quickly becoming well aware that, without weapons, they were defenceless. Without medicine, they’d not be able to take care of the defenceless. It was very swiftly becoming a losing battle and, without their supplies, there was a swiftly growing gap in Northstar’s defence line.
Green had to think fast, otherwise the group would be in trouble. ❝ I don’t never want to resort to violence, but we can’t let these people tear a path of destruction through our city whenever they see it fit. From now on, we will not be giving the new Badlands another chance. If any of them return, I’d like for them to be apprehended by mercenaries and I’d like for them to be sent to me. ❞
❝ In the meantime, I’d like for people to keep an eye out for any travelling merchants. We really need to barter for anything we can find. Any blacksmiths here? Any chance anyone can forge new melee weapons? We have a shortage of other weapons like guns, so we need anything that can protect us. ❞ Green took a deep breath, and then he said, ❝ Next time The Badlands decide to come here, we will defend what’s ours. Next time, we will be prepared. ❞
Green released a shaky breath, before cracking an uncertain, reassuring smile. ❝ But, I do hope there won’t be a next time. I will do what it takes to make sure nobody hurts a hair on any of your heads, and that’s a promise. ❞
