— if there was anyone addy would come close to telling it was his birthday, that person would have to be lucerne. from the young man’s point of view, it only seemed obvious. after all, there wasn’t anyone else around these parts that the redhead could say he was nearly as close to - let alone anyone that he wanted to be close to, either. it wasn’t so often that addy wanted somebody to be around - though, perhaps there was a part of him that wanted to spend more time with the other man.
perhaps there had even been a part of him tempted to spend the day hanging out with lucerne. what else would he have wanted to do for his birthday? drag himself into the clinic, sit around all day and bother his poor friend. instead there he was, splayed out across the grass. though at the sound of approaching footsteps, he turned his head just enough to see lucerne silhouetted by the setting sun. huh. call it a fucking birthday wish come true.
“you would have asked me to bring you a chair?” he repeated it slowly, as if waiting for lucerne to figure out his own damn mistake. then, eventually, he shook his head and supplied, ”i’m not your bitch.” as cold as addy could be, it seemed as though his words were lighthearted. unbothered. he squinted as lucerne continued to talk, sitting up so he could bring the drink to his lips. he turned his gaze over to peer at lucerne, slowly starting to stand up. looking towards the mill, he pointed at it as he muttered, “i could- go jump off that mill over there or something, if you wanted more patients for the day.”
perhaps there was even a part of him that looked playful as he turned his gaze back towards lucerne, raising a brow just subtly.
//this post is so cruddy im sorry ;-;
