— fred absolutely loved the village. with more to do than at the lodge, more people to meet and bother, it seemed like he was truly in his element. out and about more often than not, his eyes casually wandered around the village. not much was going on out of the ordinary - though he had to look to his side to see joey opposite of him, hesitating before ducking into the nearby shop. he glanced around for a moment, waiting only a moment before following after. after all, she wasn’t the worst person to be around; she was relatively bearable (which meant she tolerated most of his confidence and antics).
he glanced at her as she rubbed at her temple, annoyed by - something. he lingered for a moment before he stepped closer. “you know what’s worse than a baby?” fred paused, as if expecting joey to say something. maybe something along the lines of “going shopping for child” would have been quite the punchline. still, fred could only grin as he answered before she could, “nothing. nothing’s worse.” he paused, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he added, “but shopping's a pretty close second.” guess he didn't know that shopping for a baby was what was truly causing josephine such a headache. still, he looked smug, as if expecting joey to have some sort of amusement to the remark. probably not the right place, or right time. his gaze lingered before eventually looking around the shop, not familiar with exactly what she was looking for in this place.
"what are you looking for, anyway?"
