In the village square stood a growing crowd of those ready to celebrate the official opening of the new village. Inside the nearby cafe, hot chocolate and Irish coffees were being served generously, Flintlockers coming and going as they prepared for Eddie’s opening ceremony speech. And, standing with his daughter in his arms, Eddie waited for everybody to settle down and focus their attention on him before he began to talk.
❝ Afternoon, everyone. Today’s gathering is a… monumental one as it marks the opening of our fully renovated village. Gone are the days when this village would remain untouched, all of its potential wasting away. Gone are the days when we would be confined within the lodge. Whilst - of course - it is our home, it’s easy to become pretty stir-crazy after a couple of days within the same four walls, huh? ❞ Charlotte shifted in his arms, her hand reaching up and patting Eddie's cheek to try turn his attention back to her.
A couple of Flintlocker’s chuckled, Eddie pulling his head away ever-so-slightly before he continued. ❝ I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to the village. We would not be where we are today otherwise. And so… today… I think that we will not only celebrate our success, but we will also celebrate the work we’ve all put into it to get to this point. ❞
❝ Shops are now open for business. Feel free to explore the village in its completion and find out what we have to offer here. ❞ ❝ Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy- ❞ Charlotte tried to grasp onto Eddie’s attention, playing at the collar of his coat as she stared up with large blue eyes. ❝ If you have any questions, suggestions or clarifications, I’ll be in the cafe after this. Uh- so, yes. ❞ Ed was quiet for a moment before he looked towards his daughter, ❝ Anything that you’d like to add? ❞
Charlotte was silent for a second before burying her face against his chest, seemingly pleased that she’d eventually gotten his attention. For a second there, in that fleeting moment of pride and joy, Eddie’s lips twitched into a ghost of a smile, even if it was only for a second. He looked around at the village square - after all of their hard work and all of the planning that had gone into this, finally his vision was coming to life. Eddie released a slow, thoughtful sigh before looking back to the crowd. ❝ On that note, enjoy the village. ❞ And, with that, Eddie began to wander over towards the cafe where he would proceed to get himself an Irish coffee and his daughter a hot chocolate. His favorite way to celebrate his group's success.
