— copter licked at his face, fred huffing through pursed lips at the affection. ”hey, copter- gross,” he remarked lightheartedly, though it was obvious that he didn’t hate the affection too much. there was a certain fondness for tommy’s dog pack, or simply dogs in general - like mollie’s dog, dexter, for example - that fred felt was almost reciprocated. dogs loved him, what could he say? placing the beloved pooch down on the ground again, he wiped the dog drool off his face with his sleeve.
“y’can barely take care of yourself mate, let alone a dog.” fred pursed his lips slightly, brows raising as he mulled over the statement. fair point, tommy. he made a pretty good case. “i’ll tell you what; gimme a hand and maybe you can borrow ‘im from time to time.” the remark was quick to make fred grin, huffing a short breath before agreeing, “deal.” turning on his heels, he headed over towards the hay nets. “just don’t get jealous when i become copter’s favorite.” the likelihood of that was slim; the dogs seemed remarkably loyal to tom in every aspect of the word. that didn’t necessarily mean it was off the table for fred to joke about, though.
leading down, he began to pack one of the nets with hay - trying not to pack it too tight as he went along his way, whistling an absent tune. why tom seemed to have invested so much time in these horses was beyond him; however, if he needed chores done, at least fred would help the grumbling cousin. it was the least he could do, right?
