"speech" 'thought' text
Maise was surprised by the appearance of Josephine. She had been so sure someone would answer the door, but instead, someone appeared from outside of the door. The slender young woman didn't let that phase her, however, and a smile broke out over her face. "Hi there." Maise responded, brushing a small chunk of hair away from her face as the wind picked up again pulling it towards her mouth. She didn't like it when her hair got in her mouth. "Nice to meet you Joey. I'm Maise. Maise Lane." She introduced herself.
The young woman readjusted the bag she carried, sighing in relief as the pressure on her shoulder was alleviated for a few moments, before it continued to persist again. It took her longer to formulate what exactly she was going to say to this Joey person about what she was doing here. Did she tell her the whole story? About how she was up here, in part to learn more about the place her parents had been married?
Or did she stick to a more down to earth explanation, that she was a medical professional, who'd been trained by two fine doctors, may they rest in peace. Maise tilted her head to the side slightly, her internal thinking evident on the outside. "I heard about a group that lived up in or near Flintlock lodge, and wanted to check it out." The young woman explained, a smile on her face.
"You see, before I was born and before the blackout, my parents got married at Flintlock, and I still have some of the pictures. They... umm... they died a few months ago, and so, I decided to come find where, not only they got married, but also fell in love." It seemed so silly to say out loud now.
"I'm also a trained doctor. I don't have the schooling that a doctor before the blackout would have had, but I am good at taking care of people. My parents were both doctors, well, my mom was a pediatric surgeon after being an ER doctor for four years, and my dad was a family practitioner." Was she oversharing? Talking too much? Probably, but she couldn't seem to stop talking.
Her eyes strayed to Edmund, and she started a bit, how long had he been here? Did he arrive while she was blabbing on? "Hi, I'm Maise, don't know how long you've been here. I guess I got carried away talking." The slender young woman continued to sort of prattle on.
Her dark eyes shifted from Edmund, to Josephine, and then, to the dogs were with her. Her smile widened. "Oh my goodness! Are those your dogs? They're beautiful!" Maise's face somehow brightened more than it had been. "Sorry, I think I talk too much... truth is, I haven't talked to anyone in some weeks." She added, trying to explain some of her over use of the gift of speech.
