after setting up his tent , he grabbed his book that he'd read at least 20 times before , and grabbed a hammock from one of the wagons . he found a good spot with two sturdy trees that were close enough but far enough apart to tie up the hammock to . he made sure it wouldn't break on him before carefully sliding into it . he rested his book on his chest , crossed his legs , and closed his eyes .
the gentle swing almost lulled him to sleep , and he'd begun to doze off before he heard footsteps and a familiar voice a little too close by . he opened one eye and raised a brow at him .
" hey , it's my turn . can i join you ? "
holland scoffed , but his soft grin was genuine as he closed both eyes again and put his hands behind his head . " you know this thing can only hold one person , right ? "
" okay , then let me have a turn . "
he opened his eyes and frowned incredulously at the boy in front of him , who looked ready to climb into the hammock whether or not holland got out .
" rory , i've been in this for like a half hour , and i'm pretty sure there are other ha- RORY ! "
roy started to climb into the hammock , making it swing to the point holland almost fell out . he cursed under his breath .
" rory , jesus christ , you're gonna break it- " " i told you it's my turn , so if anyone's breaking it , it's you . " " that doesn't even make sense . oh my god- "
somehow , rory fit himself on the other end of the hammock . he stretched out his legs while holland made himself as small as possible without falling out of it . holland sighed heavily and wiped a hand over his face , slapping at rory's foot when he nudged him .
" you're killing me , rory . you're killing me . "
