— fred hadn’t seen sky lanterns before. when cass wandered back over towards everyone, talking to max about them, he couldn’t help but feel at least a little intrigued. it was something cass and his family did when they were younger, but by the sounds of it the practice faded with time. he glanced around at the others to see if there were any other takers.
he didn’t have the chance to learn about these when he was younger. his childhood mostly consisted of trying to rally as many other kids as he knew, and declare they play some kind of game like cops and robbers, or play pretend. most of the time he would stand there and puff out his chest, demanding that he - the youngest - get to play alfred. he usually managed to get his way, even if it ended up annoying most everyone that decided to play with him. guess fred started off his reputation for being so annoying early on. he crossed his arms and reluctantly followed towards the supplies.
“what does it do, exactly?” he questioned with a small smile, tilting his head subtly to one side as he looked over the supplies. he had no idea what he was doing, but he still carried himself with such confidence and assurance. it took a special kind of person to be like that.
